Netflix has released the first trailer for the show The Santa Clarita Diet, which stars Drew Barrymore as a zombie of sorts--and it looks pretty wild.

Barrymore's character, a realtor named Sheila, one day vomits a lot and dies, apparently. In this next phase of her life, she develops an appetite for human flesh. Chomping down on humans makes her happier, so that's good, except she needs to find people to eat. Along with her husband Joel (Timothy Olyphant), Sheila must track down and kill people "who deserve it" so she can consume them, sometimes as blended-up smoothies while jogging with friends.

Sheila's family seems cool with all of this. The Santa Clarita Diet takes place in the Los Angeles suburb Santa Clarita, which is where the name comes from.

The Santa Clarita Diet premieres on Netflix on February 3. The series also features Patton Oswalt and Nathan Fillion.

I think I'll watch an episode to test it out. I do love Patton Oswalt and Nathan Fillion, but based on the premise, this will either be a big hit or a flop.

That looks so terribad that it's right up my alley!!

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Netflix Exec 1: alright, what are two popular shows?

Netflix Exec 2: Dexter and The Walking Dead?

Netflix Exec 1: alright, lets mash them together.

Seems more like i-zombie than the walking dead, just... minus the charm and anything that would make it remotely likeable or interesting.

realism is a lie

Up to episode 8, and it's amazing.

Comedy is underplayed farce for the most part, and it really works!

I think it's great so far. 4 episodes in.

Finished the whole season, and it's wall to wall brilliant!

Looking forward to next season!

I am not quite half-way through yet, and I am enjoying it. It reminds me a bit of Dead Like Me in terms of tone.

The nosy cop neighbor is annoying, and rather one-dimensional so far. I am hoping that changes (and that he gets eaten!).

I really liked this show, although I am a bit biased: I have loved Drew Barrymore since I was a kid, and also, I really liked Better Off Ted.

Despite that, I read a review that said that Drew Barrymore wasn't super funny on the show and that Timothy Olyphant did all the heavy lifting in every scene they were in together. Not a dealkiller but I did find that often to be true.

I really enjoyed the scenes with the daughter and the neighbor's kid as well, good chemistry.

My wife and I watched all of season 1 in about a week.

Agreed with Ouze on the daughter and neighbor kid. The show is very funny, with most of our laughter coming from neighbor kid or dad's under-the-breath one-liners as they react to a situation.

Looking forward to season 2, but I didn't care for the last 2 scenes.

I'm liking it, but Timothy Olyphant is doing a low-rent Billy Bob Thornton thing that kind of puts me off him. All the characters are very much obvious tropes but the dialog is decent. Good show overall.

We were once so close to heaven, St. Peter came out and gave us medals; declaring us "The nicest of the damned".
