Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

Hello all and glory to chaos!

Recently I have been having some personal problems (won't bore you with the details) so I thought this might be a way to distract myself from all of that and focus on something I enjoy: corruption!

What I am hoping to post here is mostly conversions I am working on or hope to work on that involve taking something loyalist and making it heretical, MWAHAHAHA! But I might also post some other stuff I've been painting/working on to fill the time between conversions (allow my wallet to recover ).

First off, here's an idea of the things I have done before hand:

^The Silver Knight of Slaanesh, built using a brother captain, some gs and some chaos bitz. The paint job isn't too great but it was my first attempt at a conversion + paintjob.

^Now here's a conversion I am quite proud of, everything fit together rather smoothly and the paintjob wasn't half bad.

^My army centerpiece, just love the model.

Now for the new stuff
I am hoping to buy in a Deathwatch killteam as well as a deathwatch captain and create a chaos Deathwatch team. The team will include: a TS captain, an AL sniper, an IW heavy weapons guy, a NL cc specialist, a Fallen Angel (basically like the old Cypher model) and a DG tank hunter. The whole lot (base models + bitz) will come to about £60 in total and will take me a while to build and convert. I will also be trying out some new GS techniques when making things like cloaks, mutations, etc.
I will post an update when I have all the bitz.

Looking to the future:
I had a discussion with someone in a thread about the new Guillium model and I pointed out how his pose looks a lot like that of Doomrider's, you know what that means... COCAAAAAIIIIINE!

I remember your slaanesh knight from the P&M section, I am glad to see you start a blog.
The juggernaut-head demon is excellent, more angles would be very appreciated if it is not too much of a bother !

Keep it up, looking forward to more corruption !

Sorry for the wait, been very busy this last week. I haven't even got round to ordering all the bitz for the deathwatch team.

But in the mean time here are a few other angles for the Khorne prince. But! It would seem someone knocked him over without telling me so now he's gonna need a new finger and tail. :(

Wouldn't we all be happy in that situation.

Update: all bitz have been ordered now but they are coming from across the world (mainly GB, Germ and Aus) so it'll be a week until I can start. See you then.

A little something I've been working on over the weekend.

The base colours (blue, gold and silver) settled rather nicely and I'm happy with them. The lightning went rather well, a couple are a bit off but overall I'm pleased. I love how the tabbard turned out!
The only thing I'm not happy with is the base; being the idiot I am, when I first got this knight I decided to cover the base in glue and cover that in pebbles, this left lots of spaces but I couldn't take them back off because I had used industrial glue and I had ran out of pebbles to fill the space with. So I decided the best thing to do would be to cover the base in yellow and a bit of red then paint the rocks black and this is what I have. I don't really like it but it's the best I could do.

Update, since it's been a week now, I have recieved almost all the bitz I need (except for the DeathGuard head) but I am still waiting on the actual Deathwatch models.
AAAAARRGH! It's been a week and the dispatch hasn't even been confirmed yet!

Another update:
The Deathwatch models still haven't arrived so I got bored of waiting and painted the bits I had anyway. Let me know what you think of the paint job, whether or not I should redo any. I also have close ups of them, posted at rquest.

Till next time, thanks!

I have now received and painted the DeathGuard head/torso, I have now received an Email saying the Deathwatch models should arrive either on Friday or Monday.

The image is a bit pants (taken on a phone) so if someone requests it I'll try to take a better picture, if not: till next time!

Still no Deathwatch! It has only just been shipped today (almost two weeks after ordering) so it should arrive by Monday... Should...

In the mean time I've been keeping busy with work and I quickly painted up this guy today, just to try my hand at the stary night paint job (it isn't great but I'm happy).

Till Monday then. (I hope )

Unfortunetly, the timing of this shipment couldn't have been worse: I have a lot of work + social things I am doing in the next couple of days so I'm gonna have to put it on hold for just a bit longer.
We'll get there eventually.

Ok, I couldn't resist blue taccing the captain together to get a feal for how they're gonna look. What do you think, should I swap out any of the bits for different ones: different sword, pistol, torso, etc.?

(Right, now I must get back to work)

Got a lot done today (by staying up a bit later than I really should do ), the Captain is fully painted and two of the DW vets are assembled. I'll post clearer pics of finished models when I get the time to.

Also, slight hickup on my part: some of the FW heads and the DG torso aren't compatable with the DW models so I'll have to find a way around that (by this I mean some of the heads won't fit in the turtle neck armour and the torso is too small at the waste for the legs to fit on).

Hmmm, I'm afraid the lack of sleep got the better of you mrhappyface, the pictures are too off focus to me to be able to see what you built.
Looking interesting though, If you can get the same quality as your previous pics, I am definitely interested in seeing more.

Right, I had some free time today so got the Alpha Legion model done and the Night Lord cape made, but! I need your help!

1. I am not too thrilled with how the AL cape turned out after painting, any suggestions on how to improve it (preferably the paint job because I don't really want to have to tear the poor bugger apart and start again)?
2. What colour should I paint the NL cape? As if they were faces? As if they were just a cape? As if they were souls from the warp? Something else?

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

Not an expert painter, but I usually paint capes by placing a lighter colors on the places where the cloth is folding, then a dark wash over all of it.
But your dirty white looks fine from what I can tell.

Souls from the warp would definitely be cool on the other one ! Keep it up !

That is the technique I normally use with capes but I can't model properly and my cape ended up without any folds (I'm useless) so I think it looks a bit flat. :/

Hopefully I won't butcher the NL cape as bad.

Eeehh.

The NL is finished, but I'm not too keen on how the cape turned out: I just can't picture in my head what kind of colour scheme I want for it. :/
Does anyone have a better idea for the colour scheme?

The DG model is all stuck together and GS has been added. (His torso is so small compared to the others though!)

I kind of like it, the ressemblance with Munch's Scream is intented I suppose ? You could go all the way and convert him a similar face in order to tie the whole model together ?

DG model is looking awesome.

For the cloak with the warp trapped spoils, would you consider a style to how GW do their Ghosts? You can get a decent effect by painting white and using the Nihlakh Oxide technical paint (I brt there a vid with Duncan showing you how to do a spiritual effect.

I didn't necessarily think of Munch's Scream when i made it, it was just the image of a shrieking soul/face that came to mind when I made it. I don't really want to change the face because the Skull helmet is one of the things marking him out as a NL.

Hmmm, that might be a nice idea only I don't have any Nihilakh Oxide.
I could possibly make up something similar by watering down a white green mix. :/

Also thanks, I'm looking forward to painting the DG model!
