So my sons are getting into Age of Sigmar. Partly due to that and partly to keep my hand in with doing grungy finish (so much of what I do is 'clean'), I'm resurrecting and trading out some dead lead for some Nurgle Daemons that are older than (I'd think) many readers here. 1988 vintage. Mmm.

Nice job. I love the old Nurgle stuff, tons of character. Only have a little bit myself, nice to see it alive and well out there.

I've liquidated some of my old dead lead to fund this. Not cheap to get!

I should do the same, but it’s just so hard to part with old minis

Even if all they do is collect dust in the bottom of a box somewhere. Those are at least possible. The painted ones on the shelf are even harder, regardless of the fact that they haven’t seen the table in decades. It is kinda fun to break out the old lead for painting competitions. I think sometimes I get more votes just for nostalgia then I do for my efforts with a brush.

I intend to take this army to tournaments and confuse the nooblets. Even got hold of some first release beasts of nurgle. Downside is no plague drones, but what the hey, it's never been the competitiveness of my lists that takes most blame for me losing a game...

Champion of Nurgle, part of the mortal contingent. I just just like the models, so this will be a counts-as blightking, hence the 40mm base. Should have all 10 of the 1988 originals in there.

It takes a great painter to take something released this far back and make them look as good as something put out in the last couple of years, and these definitely do. Tons of character, and I love the use of such a limited palette.

Heh, wait till I've got a few more plaguebearers done. Across the unit, they're quite colourful.

I've never seens those before but now I really like those heads compared to the new ones. They have more personality, and the humor is there.

I’ve got that old champ. One of my first kitbashes was to make him a sleigh pulled by beasts of Nurgle. And make him a santa hat. Nice to see him painted up by someone with talent.

These are brilliant. I'm a mixture of nostalgic about the miniatures and impressed with the painting.

I'm looking forward to following this blog! Great models so far. Lastly, I am not sure how much of a basing purist you plan to be, but plague bearers are meant to be on 32mm bases for Age of Sigmar - I thought I say it sooner rather than later, in case you wanted to swap them over.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Yeah, I'm aware of the recent base change for plaguebearers - in the (earlier) plaguebearers box and listed on the website they're on 25's, but in the start collecting nurgle, 32's.

If only I'd noticed before starting, but I now have enough based to not want the hassle of change, despite the fact that 32's will be better for durability (those claws overhang enough to get chipped easily).

Bases don't matter in AoS, all measurements are from the actual model.

Lovely army btw!

[obiwan]Brian Froud. There's a name I've not heard since...[/obiwan]

Gonna have to start listening to some Enya or some such now, get on a proper 80's vibe.
