A button to report a thread as spam without needing to open the thread would be handy for us plebs who wish to alert the great and noble powers of Dakka.

Most of the bots I've been seeing are from India, advertising skin cream and stuff. I have observed a few of the Korean ones as well (like the ones advertising some kind of online casinos). Is there any way to prevent those things from popping up? Because I bet they are annoying for you guys.

If you're not seeing many Korean bots then we're doing our job.
The challenge is how to lock them out while allowing in legitimate new members to keep this site growing. There's several measures already in place and Lego is looking at more.

I thought there were more Indian bots more consistently though, seems a lot of the ones I report come from there at least.

We're going to get Lego on this job. I know him, nice guy, you should really get to know him, the best, the very best, and trust me, he's going to build an e-Wall all around Dakka. It's gonna be yuge. It's great, you'll love it.

The first 20+ threads in 'Tournament Discussions' are spam. Didn't Lego make it so you couldn't use the word 'Kitchen' in a thread title? Maybe he could do something similar by only allowing the English alphabet in thread titles?

These are superior Japanese bots though. But yeah at this point they're about 2-3 threads from having the entire front page of the tournament section.

Don't give The Games Workshop™ ideas.
On second thought, considering the state of their products, DO give them ideas.
Apparently the Korean alphabet is called Hangul, and it was created by some Korean king about 500 years ago, to replace the Chinese characters that were in use. I had no idea it was an alphabet as opposed the the characters that the Chinese and Japanese use. Also, the Korean language is an isolate, meaning it is not related to any other language currently spoken. Basque is another example of a language isolate.
One learns the oddest things. Local TV station shows Arirang TV ( A Korean channel) on one of its sub-channels.
Is email verification required for new accounts? A minimum number of posts required before an account can start a thread?

That would make it harder for the welcome thread though.
Unless you can only post there first...

Who says the internets ain't educational?
As for email verification etc, the problem is always that they depress legitimate users as well, so that's the balance Lego has to keep in mind
