Been Around the Block

My husband and I were unpacking some boxes that have been sitting collecting dust for the last 10 years and came across all our old Warhammer and Warmachine/Hordes stuff. Boxes and boxes and boxes of minis, paints, tools, terrain... I looked at him, with shock and said "we were really into this at one time, weren't we?" And we had been. Even up until right before the move. But then we moved, and we didn't have a games room set up, so stuff sat in boxes. And more and more time passed and I guess we just sort of forgot how much we had enjoyed it. But as soon as I saw it, I remembered, and I think he did too.

Needless to say within a week we had a games room set up with a games table and a painting table, lighting, and all of our miniatures unpacked. I've spent more than I care to admit as I decided to change from playing CSM to a soley Chaos Daemon army. It was funny sitting down to paint for the first time in 10 years as I stared and my brushed trying to remember how to do things like blend colors and highlight. It's slowly coming back to me. I've almost completed my first unit of plague drones, and while not perfect, for starting back out I'm pretty happy with how they've turned out.

I know this is going to be a money sink, especially since I love collecting and painting even more than I love playing the games. At least I have more disposable income now at 32 than I did in my early 20's while I was trying to put myself through school and living in the city where everything was horrendously expensive. The downside of course, is where we live now while cheaper, there is no GW and no local game store. We have one friend who has started playing with us, but can not find anyone else who plays.

All things said, I am so excited to be getting back into the hobby.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Hey, three people is practically a gaming club. If you got the money and/or time you can pick up some terrain (sounds like you might already have some too) and set up gaming group. The biggest issue afterward is setting up multiple tables at your house.

I like gaming away from stores. You are more free to play the games you want, how you want. Plus, most miniatures stuff is much cheaper online, and you don't have to feel bad not buying it from a FLGS.
