U-oats were OP pre-nerf.

Now they aren't.

I'm seeing a lot of Attani Mindlink squads in tournaments. Am I missing something... or is it just a stress-less way of uping the action economy?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
That being said, I like that Manaroo/Asajj/Palob list. I wouldn't necessarily use Gonk, I'd rather have a Gyro on the Lancer, I might give it a try tomorrow.

Yes, I'm playing X-wing on Valentine's Day. One of the advantages of getting married on February 15th.

Not just stress-free, action-free. A lot of the power is the fact that you care much less about bumping, as long as one ship in your list gets to focus everyone is going to have 1-2 tokens.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

I'm thinking of trying that list (with the above mentionned change) at a local tourney if it works out well. I like my last list, but I was always worried about giving away too many points if I got one of my two ships blown up. Which almost happened a couple of times.

So, I brought this list last night and played three games with it. Three very easy victories:

Asajj Ventress (37)
Attanni Mindlink (1)
Latts Razzi (2)
Gyroscopic Targeting (2)

Manaroo (27)
Attanni Mindlink (1)
Unhinged Astromech (1)

Palob Godalhi (20)
Attanni Mindlink (1)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Vectored Thrusters (2)

Total: 100

That being said, aside from the last list which had multiple stress mechanics on a single ship... the first two lists were total softballs.

The first list was Unkar Plutt in a Quadjumper with three Heavy Scyk (Serissu, 2 spacers, all with SDs and Ion Cannons). The Quadjumper folded unceremoniously, and the TLT just burned through the SD on each ship in turn.

The second list was a PS2 Outrider with Mangler Cannon and Bistan crew and Han Solo with old-title and Expertise.

The last list was this:

Starkiller Base Pilot (30)
Fire-Control System (2)
Rebel Captive (3)
Mara Jade (3)
Kylo Ren's Shuttle (2)

Rear Admiral Chiraneau (46)
Predator (3)
Gunner (5)
Hotshot Co-pilot (4)

Total: 98

Which was waaaaaaayyy too many stress eggs into the same basket. I purposely evaded the Shuttle's arc and focused on Chiraneau who ended up driving himself out of the table in order to try to force damage through (greens suck on deci).

So, good list? I can't tell yet. I want to try it against Palp-Defenders next week.

the trick with palob is nice but still think mindlink fenn rau is a better pick

I suck, suck really bad, at flying Fenn Rau.

Palob is a lower profile threat (he doesn't seem as dangerous) so I was able to keep people confused as to who they should attack. Then I'd just switch offers on them.

The first guy actually asked me "So who's your biggest threat?"

So, yeah Fenn definitely has the raw damage potential, but Palob just fits my slow game a bit more.

I'm so happy for you

Local meta and tournament scene is filled to the brim with cookie-cutter lists made out of manaroo and attanni mindlink.
I'm actually looking back at the triple u-boats times with fondness

Thinking of leaving the game for a while, it got old pretty fast

Sounds like my recent experience with Soontir Fel... I'm working on it myself

I feel like Fenn Rau is walking a razor's edge. and I am very fond of cutting myself when I shave, apparently.

Either you keep him a bit away from the main combat as a focus battery (which I've seen) and he'll be there for the end game, albeit with very, very low action economy.

Or you keep him too close to the action and he gets targeted by everyone and his mom because, well, he's a hell of a threat.

That's my problem with the competitive scene for x-wing, but I love it personally as a fun casual game personally, the cookie cutter lists and net listing are boring IMO due to a lack of experimentation, yes, attanni mind link is great, and manaroo is fantastic, but it's bloody everywhere, I know a guy who for several months never flew a list without mindlink, and for some reason is apparently infatuated with the quadjumper now.

Shadowrun is the best game ever. It's the only thing I have ever played in which I have jumped out of a shot out van with a chainsaw to cut a flying drone in half before leveling a building with ANFO assisted by a troll, a dwarf, an elf, and a wizard.

For what it matters, I love the positioning aspect and the 'bump' mechanic.
Manaroo + attanni basically defeats both points since with attanni you only need to be able to do a focus to have every ship with focus and (due to manaroo + attanni combo) two focus on one at the start of the combat phase.

At the start of this month one of the guys wanted to switch list during one game, wrecked him in my first time playing the manaroo fenn asajj netlist. Only thing of relevance I tried was a basic bait&switch with asajj thanks to the deceptive 5 straight + large base. At the casual level, the list plays itself

Every list has a counter. Some harder than others. Even 4 TLTs can be beat.

A friend of mine started with Guri, a Mando Merc and Talonbane Cobra, all with mindlink.

Personally, my meta is still swamped with Commonwealth Defenders and Triple Defenders. I'm still not convinced it's a good list, not until I play a few games against those.

Ottawa Regionals were this weekend.

The winner of the Quebec City Regionals finished 30th. So lightning isn't easily contained by a bottle, it seems.

There was a smattering of Paratanni lists, none of them made it to the Top 8 cut. No Imperial player made it to the Top 4. There are still Ghosts out there.

You can see the results here:
