Hi all,

For any of you in matched play. What is the general consensus on bringing your own scenery to benefit your list?

I.E After the table, mission and standard terrain pieces have been set up. You then determine who starts to deploy first. Before doing so that player can then place their own terrain features. Followed by an alternating deployment until such time as a player deploys first and then choices to start the turn or not.

In the context of me running a bunkered Freeguild List... If I was to take "Walls & Fences" and just plant that bunker behind them I benefit from "If all of the models from a unit are within 3" of a wall or fence, and are on the same side of it, then the unit receives the benefits of cover against attacks made by models that are on the other side of the wall or fence." so in most cases I'm adding a +1 to my save rolls, and due to the wording could argue vs shooting attacks as well...

My opponents have used the Magewrath throne and temple of skulls in similar scenarios, but as they don't have points like a Slyvaneth Wlydwood, it seems a little unfair. Certainly in matched play.

The question is... I'm not paying for that... and is that fair? Likewise I don't think there is a Cap on what scenery a player can bring either?

Many thanks,

What your friend did was not only "unfair" but illegal. If it has rules of its own it must have points. Fences on the other hand are just terrain considered on a vertical stance, and yeah, you could use them in shooting.
