So this will be my second tournament ever and it's at my FLGS. I won my first tourney at this store and using a 1000 point biker army. I had a fairly easy go of it going up against 2 marine armies and DE/harlequin army. This event will be larger in size and at a larger point value. I only have maybe 10 games of 7th Ed under my belt and before that hadn't played since 5th ed. I was hoping I could get some feedback on not just list but with what units from the top tier armies I may encounter and how to approach them. I suspect that there will be a few eldar armies now that they have a new book. I know that my baby brother will be there with a tzeentch daemon army that has never lost with 2++ rerollable saves. Unless the tourney is ITC rules which I'm not sure about.

Tourney allows a CAD, allied detachments and formations. Super heavies are allowed there was more stipulations but I forgot.

My list is made of the models I actually own or am borrowing , in the case of the dakkajet jets, but I have a little flexibility of models but not much.

** list updated**

Basic strategy. Put all characters with big biker blob. Use the biker blobs 2+ cover save from skilled rider jink turboboosting and lucky sticking any failed cover saves. Also this unit is extremely mobile and durable with T5 and feelno pain on missed jinks. I could scout then boost and be linebreaker in their face first turn ready to assault turn 2. Unless it's a big nasty shooty tau or eldar I'll put just the big blob on and hold the other stuff in reserve and try to hide the blob until the enemy comes closer and my other reserves can come in. Whether I deploy everyon or delay through reserves will depend on who I'm up against and what the mission type is

Looks very solid indeed. I would reduce the Lootas to 9 in the unit (it's a nice sweet spot for how many casualties you have to take before taking a LD test) and try to find a way to give each Meganobz unit one pair of killsaws (not on the Boss Nob) this clears up your anti-SHV problem. Personally I would also swap those Dakkajets for 2 x 5 Tankbustas + 3 x bomb squigs in a Trukk + ram and rokkit. Otherwise your list is going to struggle to open up transports from range before those Jets turn up, which could be quite late. In fact I'd recommend swapping the Lootas and Jets for 3 x Tankbustas units if possible.

Thanks for the input. I think the 20 klaw s in this list could do some damage up close but I see where your coming from with the lack of ranged vehicle damaging potential. I have lots of rokkit koptas I could use. I don't have much in way of the tankbustas. I wonder if they event coordinator would let me sub regular boyz for bustaz. You think I should drop both jets? On the waaagh that's lots of TL S6 15 shots each on the charge and +1 bs for strafing run. How effective do you think 2 5 man bustaz squads in would be if I could fit them in trukks or looted wagons?

Yeah you've got the CC power to open transports but I find it invaluable to deal with those at range, then charge the unit after. If you expect to see Imperial Knights I'd go for those Killsaws as well though. Dakkajets are quite nice but compared to the other sources of S6 around they're pretty inefficient. I always find minimum units of Tankbustas with bomb squigs are worth it, not too bad against MCs in a pinch either. The Jets will be better against those Daemons though.

Do you think it would be worth taking nobz with a klaw in the bustaz squads? Or will the rokkit a/ busta bombs be enough?

I'd split the lootas into 2x5 squads and also split the bikes into 4 units, dropping 1-2 pks in order to give killsaws to the bully boyz and the remaining 3rd ram.

Updating the list in BattleScribe and I have 29 pts left over. I scrapped the jets and put in two squads of bustaz in trukks with ram. Put last ram on my mega nobz trukks and I split the lootas into two squads of 5, and put a pair of kill saws onto 1 nob in each squad of bully boys.

Not really, that would be a waste of points most the time. You've got enough PKs elsewhere and the Bustas are mostly for the ranged S8, I wouldn't even bother with a Nob and bosspole.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Oh it also looks like you need a bosspole in that Warbikers unit, in a unit like that I usually put it on the Painboy but the DLS Bike boss is a solid choice as well.

Double edit: put a bosspole in the other Warbikers units as well.

I agree, never take nobz in tankbustas units or they become too expensive and consequently a priority target. With the bullyboyz, which also have killsaws, and bikers with other pks you don't need to throw into assault you tankbustas. They already have a melta bomb if you really need to finish the job.

Your list is good. Similar to what im currently running.

One question though. Under the battleforged army list rules, it states an allied detachment cannot be the same faction as your primary detachment. Meaning you cannot take the painboy and gretchin. Have I miss read the rules or was this rule FAQ'ed/changed?

I could just switch the CAD to the ork horde detachment

I don't see a painbiker in your list, you should have one!

Single koptas are the lick! You should have some.

Why the gretchins?

I have a painboy biker. When I updated the list on here I forgot to move him to the HQ section. I had the extra points so i threw the gretchin in . I guess I could take 2 more bikers. I was going to use the gretchin to objective camp or speed bump a unit if needed

I would put the bustas in trukks. iirc looted wagons have don't press that, if you roll a one on the wagon the bustas can't fire at all.

Is that if I roll a one or if they move flat out ? I could put the lootas or bustaz in it and place them up against impassable terrain enabling them to shoot since they can't move through the impassable terrain. I don't have the codex with neither now so I can't reference it.

With Don't Press Dat you roll 1D6 for each Looted Wagon and if you roll a 1 you 'must move Flat Out', (HIWPI coming up) in the spirit of the rule I would treat it as having gone Flat Out even if you're wedged against Impassable Terrain. You also dont have to go what we would normally consider straight forwards for a Flat Out move, you just have to move in a straight line. So if you've got the front end of the Wagon up against impassable terrain, you can still go Flat Out backwards or even slide sideways. It's the reason I dont use them actually, similar to a lot of things in the codex.

In regards to losing that Allied Detachment (good catch by the way) I would try your best to fit this list into one or two CADs instead. ObSec bikes is a huge reason why Zhadsnark is great and allows you to compete with other armies' fast objective takers.
