Theme for the army is for all infantry to be mounted in their APC, with the exception of Pathfinders whom act as footslogging Scouts. The army works to swiftly deliver the killing blow (mobility being key), hence the absence of Broadsides which lack mobility. No Riptide because I think at 1350, I don't wanna be TFG.

I like running mech tau in friendly games. I would bring an ethereal instead of a commander though. He buffs your firewarriors and with 2 or 3 units working in tandem, you can really break your opponent's line. I would also drop the piranha and run a third Devilfish with Breachers. Breachers are absolute money. In every game I've used them in semi-competitive environments they are the MVP every time. I'd recommend going Breachers for all three squads but if you already have all those Strikes, by all means use them.

If you take that recommendation I would also split up the missile unit to make one a solo suit. Defense through MSU.

Give the MSS and CnCN to a 'Vre, not the BS5 cmdr. You gain BS5 over BS3 for the'Vre upgrade points. And an IC who can be effective on his own.

Also, you can easily find the 10 points for the 'Vre by splitting the plasma and fusions into seperate squads (though I wouldn't run a single plasma suit personally, I'd ditch him for another missile guy and run 2 solo fusion suits).

Try and find 5 points for sensor spines on the 'Fish too, it would suck to have your breachers stuck footslogging. Also, 12 breachers is generally overkill, I find 7-9 usually get the job done for me and they're all going to die as soon as they gte out of the 'fish anyway because once they've fired, no sane opponent wants them anywhere near any of their things.

I'd also suggest running drones on a hammerhead since I find I don't use the pie plate that often but the drones make for fantastic harrassment and charge blockers and you'll get far, far more use out of them than you ever will from 4 sms shots (unless you're popping rhinos, since longstrike gives them tank hunters, but then why are you popping rhinos with longstrike?).
