I haven't used my deathwatch yet and I'm a bit uncertain on the rules. What would happen if a deathwatch unit with the mission tactics special rule is joined by an independent character like a
GK Librarian, 1)Do only the deathwatch models get their re-rolls? 2) Does the
GK Librarian get them too? or 3) Does no-one get re-rolls?
In the codex it says "The Mission Tactics special rule represents the unique way in which the Deathwatch go to war. At the start of your first turn, pick one of the following Mission Tactics. It will remain active for the entire battle unless you decide to change it as described below. As long as the Tactic is active,
it affects all units in your army that have the Mission Tactics special rule."
In the deathwatch
FAQ it also says "Q: An Independent Character from another Chapter can join another Chapter’s unit and confer its Chapter Tactics unless that unit also has a Chapter Tactics, in which case they cancel each other out. How does this work with Mission Tactics? Is it treated the same as Chapter Tactics?
A: You get neither."
As it says it affects "all units which have the mission tactics special" not "all units entirely comprised of models with the mission tactics special rule", I'm leaning towards option 1 as the unit has the special rule(inside of it), though I'm probably biased.
I don't really understand the question or answer for the
FAQ, I don't play regular space marines so I don't know if these are like the normal chapter tactics or how it is that normal chapter tactics work. Any clarification would be appreciated cause I have no idea.
