Hey everyone ,

So I want to build a tau crisis suit army but I am having a hard time finding the rules in the codex that show how they unlock as troop choices. Everyone tells me that if I take some sort of crisis suit hq they unlock. Can someone explain or give me a page reference if this?

Thanks

I'm no Tau expert but I'm pretty sure it's in a supplement called Farsight Enclaves. It's a codex more oriented towards Mechas and I think you can have them as Troops choice with the rules in it.

Which is then also reprinted in the farsight enclaves supplement. Cheaper there I think.

The differences are Crisis teams can be taken as Troops, all units that can take the Bonding Knife Ritual must do so and Enclaves and Empire have access to different signature wargear. Full rules can be found in Mont'ka I'm pretty sure.

Though FSE can take from both, while normal Tau can only take their sig systems.

Yeah, I bought the digital Farsight Enclaves supplement in 2013, which automatically updated with the Mont'ka rules (but not fluff methinks). In any case, he should be fine simply purchasing Mont'ka, though someone with that should confirm for this gentleman.

Really fun, dynamic army to paint and play. Welcome to the Tau rebels haha

Rule #1 is Look Cool.

I have been really on the fence about Tau. I don´t want to be that mean tau player but the thought of a complete battlesuit army is just so good.

The Tau codex is also really flexible and you can scale between competitive and fluffy pretty easily.
