Give it a go so long as you give a solid contribution, otherwise don't bother. Necroing a thread isn't too bad as long as you give it additional value.

Normally what Cheesecat said would be spot on...its fine to necro a thread as long as the content isn't topical (outdated and no longer makes sense) and you're actually adding to the thread when doing so.

However, in this case, the content is REALLY old, so I think the best course of action would be to start a new thread with more or less the same thread title (maybe just with '2017' in the title or now call it 'Astra Miliatrum' instead of 'Imperial Guard' if you want to be all current) and then put a link to the old thread in the first post of the new thread, so people can go back and look at the old stuff if they want, but that way its precisely clear where the 2009 stuff ends and the 2017 starts.

But if you do start a new thread on that topic, please make sure the first post you make contains something of yours that you're showing off (the last thread started with somebody simply asking for pics, which isn't actually cool to do).

Not going to lie - saw the title of this thread and really hoped it was just a thread about seeing how long this thread could go without someone posting, thereby necroing itself. Would be somewhat self-defeating but humorous (to everyone except the mods I assume)

I knew man once who necro'ed a thread.

They found pieces of him in 3 states.

True story.

Speaking of necro, anyone else getting three month warnings when posting on threads that have been active in like February?
