As a side project from the tzeentch daemons, I'm looking at working on making a full battlesuit army I've been kicking around on whether I should start or not since at least 3ish years now. Also going with a darker scheme gives me a break from the simplistic bright scheme the daemons are in. Don't want to be a lazy painter.

Been through about 3-4 schemes with these guys in the past, but finally sticking to this nice dark scheme I came up with at first just for the stealth teams.

The older schemes
Spoiler:

Also still going with the same list as before.
14-3-17: New list, also noticed I was 20 points over so dropped all the EWO cause I'm a nice person.
Don't know if it's really that good or not, but I finally managed to fit the neuroweb jammer in and that makes me happy.
Spoiler:
v5 13/3/17 - 1850p
Retaliation Cadre - Primary - 1231
Commander 172
Iridium, Plasma Rifle, Fusion Blaster, Puretide Engram Neurochip, Stimulant Injector, Neuroweb System Jammer

XV8 Crisis 180
3, 6x Fusion Blaster, 2x Shield Drones

XV8 Crisis 232
4, 8x Cyclic Ion Blaster, 2x Shield Drone

XV8 Crisis 232
4, 8x Cyclic Ion Blaster, 2x Shield Drone

XV88 Broadside 195
3, HYMP, SMS

XV104 Riptide 220
Ion Accelerator, SMS, Stimulant Injector

Optimised Stealth Cadre - 619
XV25 Stealth 147
3, Shas'vre with homing beacon, Markerlight, Target lock and Drone controller, 2x Marker Drones

XV25 Stealth 147
3, Shas'vre with homing beacon, Markerlight, Target lock and Drone controller, 2x Marker Drones

XV95 Ghostkeel 325
2, Ion Raker, TL Fusion Blaster, 2x Velocity Tracker, Target Lock

Anyway this is how things are at the moment. The optimised stealth cadre is more or less done, just needs the 4 marker drones and I still need to get the second ghostkeel.

Also currently still WIP is a riptide and broadside.
Turns out a 1/100 impulse gundam's shoulders are exactly the right size to fit onto a riptide.

Along with the missiles I'm hoping to represent the stim injector through having a slightly armoured up look.

Not sure if I'll make the other 2 broadsides like this after the headache it was to get this done in the first place.

And finally the commander is currently waiting, most likely has been for a bit too long but should be fine.

Interesting change of scheme. Good luck and don't lose faith.

Cheers,

Thanks guys

Got to work on the broadside first, sadly after basecoating the purple I found out that my screamer pink had dried out.

So I worked on the grey then basecoated the purple for the riptide too.

Sadly though, the Isocol stripping was advice from my brother. It seems that it doesn't even touch the spray and was rather hit or miss with the other paint, ended up leaving the model brittle so sadly that commander is now gone. I'll stick with pineoclean/dettol as I've had no issues with those it just leaves the model with a bit of a smell for a while afterwards.
I've looked at getting a XV9 to use instead (as it's slightly cheaper than just getting another commander) yet I managed to find a commander a bit cheaper than that again so ordered it in.
I'm on the fence about converting it the same way again to give it a GN Drive in the back or to try to think up something else again.

The purple and black combo on the broadside looks damn solid to me. Pity about your commander.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Nice scheme. I like the soft glow on the OSL. Fits the army. Bummer about the commander.

Thanks

Yeh I like the code names for the suits a little better than the Imperial names sometimes, less typing as well.
Few pictures this update as I managed to finish off both suits fast when I managed to get some more screamer pink. I also went back and added more tufts to the ghostkeel's base and the stealth suits got some as well but I didn't feel like it was worth taking more pictures of them as I've been showing them a lot lately as is already.

Anyway first the riptide with those nice 1/100 Impulse Gundam shoulder guards, it's a perfect grade kit so they have moulded detail on the underside as well which is never really going to be seen.

One thing I like about larger models is I leave the base darker under all models to add a shadow into it, it just shows so much better on larger things.

These as well as the last 3 stealthsuits I did came out darker than the first 3 and ghostkeel slightly. Not sure what I did differently, maybe I had another colour in the gradiant. But, doesn't matter I'm liking the slightly darker look it has now more.

Really nice different colour scheme you have going on. Also I love that glow effect on your models, especially the stealth suits. You're obviously good at it but the dark colour really makes it pop as well

Thanks

Mostly waiting on stuff to get sorted out so for now I've painted a shield drone.

The new commander is currently just some legs.

Waiting on a XV9 to show up in the mail so I can finish it off.

Taking my time with building this, noticed the xv9 torso with the commander arms leaves a gap and coincidentally the cockpit covers for the commander's torso actually fit perfectly not only onto the curve of the xv9's shoulders but to the angle of the top of the commander's arms too. Good way to reinforced the arm joints I thought plus gives it a kind of nice look.

Pics are a touch blurry as I was in a bit of a rush.

Still needs weapons which I have a bunch of ion blasters on the way in the mail, or I could give it plasmas I'm still on the fence about it. Definitely not done with this build tho, still needs the hands.

Has a really nice beefy dynamic look going on, like it a lot.
