Using techniques developed from the ancient-Terran Refurbished Infantry Personnel Program and ancient-Lunar genomodification methods, the Adeptus Mechanicus developed the first Modified Astartes prototypes in 994.M41. Production begun in 997.M41, using subjects harvested from battlefields, and failed Techmarine candidates. In all cases, subject's chapters were informed that the subject had died in an incident that left no remains, such as unfortunate blast furnace accidents, and teleporter mishaps.
All Modified Astartes have been extensively augmented and reconditioned, merging Astartes physiology with the absolute single-minded loyalty of Servitors, and the technology of Skitarii. Modified Astartes are primarily used as a small black-ops force, used to claim technology in decisive strikes, from other Imperial agencies, or exterior threats.

power armored Borg! sweet.

Glory is fleeting, but obscurity lasts forever.

Considering also your duty as a warrior you should not waver. Because there is nothing more auspicious for a warrior than a righteous war.

I have no clue how Dakka's moderation work. I expect it involves throwing a lot of d100 and looking at many random tables.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.
