Was wondering if it would be viable to setup a separate topic for commission and pro painted works so that more casual users can more easily find works that don't create dread? I am not one for the everyone is a special snowflake but it would be nice to see people of my skill level so I can compare more easily instead of being overwhelmed with some epic displays. Plus having the epic displays separated would make them easier to find for inspiration and aspiration posts as well. Thanks.

If you're just wanting to look at models around a specific sort of level, try browsing in the Gallery and filtering by Paint score.

Oh goody, this idea again!

Ouze already provided some helpful links to previous discussions on this topic and why it will probably never happen. The TL;DR of it is that doing so would cause far more problems than it would ever attempt to solve. As I've consistently brought up in the other threads on this topic, there is no definitive standard as to what "pro painted" is and "commission painter" is not a synonym for "talented painter."

I would also like to point out that if the reason you want to compare yourself to others at your "skill level" is to look to improve, that won't happen. There is no skill in the world you get better at by comparing yourself to people who are just as good or worse at said skill as you. If you seriously want to improve at something, find people better than you and learn from them.

And some, I assume, are good people."

I'm still in favour of the idea fwiw.
Not in the mood to clash horns tonight so I'll leave it at that.

If anything I'd say the commission work gets tagged but honestly, I feel it's fine the way it is. To the OP, don't worry about the other people when you want to post your stuff just post it if you want to; people aren't generally mean on Dakka either so you'll usually see someone will be along to give helpful hints to help you out as well.

Many of the various commission studios do already tag their work, either as 'commission' or with their studio name, so they're generally fairly easy to spot. That sort of thing can only ever be a voluntary initiative, though, as (like the separate forum idea) it's practically impossible to enforce.
