New Duardin coming out for AoS! They look like dwarven pirates and look extremely good. What are your thoughts and are you excited? Wish they gave some love to death they need it but the new dwarves look fly!

I think they look like they could be played in both AoS and 40K and kick ass while doing it. Who else would be beardy enough to harpoon a bloodthirster?

Yeah that's true and maybe that's why they showed them fighting a daemon!

I'll definitely buy a ship, a hero, and a unit or two to play around with, but other than that I've got so many chaos models sitting in boxes that will eventually need love. My Order forces are the focus as of now.

I have to say though, I think they are amazing.

It looks like there will be a single ship kit with two builds; one big ship or one of each small ones.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

You think? That'd be pretty cool, especially after buying two kits. You could very well make two of the same small ships if you find one you like.

Look at the hull and flight-spheres of the three kits; the parts from the smaller two clearly 'add up' to what's in the larger one.

I love the new models. I'm going to start with the heavy shooter infantry and see where I go from there. I am hoping they are in the 180-240 price bracket so I can drop my 2 cannons and Grimm Burloksson for 2 units of them instead.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Given that these are what roams the skies I am now very interested to see what sort of Flying Sky Pirates the Grots have to deal with such powerful airship weaponry.

I'm squeeing with delight at this new line. This is the AoS army I've been waiting for. I was a Dorf player back in the day, and I've been waiting patiently for the right ones to come back along again. The Fyreslayers were good but not quite what I was looking for. Especially because they're kinda similar to my Bloodbound. These though...I'm going to be all over these like cheese on a burger. You've done it again GW. You've raided my bank account.

if the rules are solid i might get these. I tried khorne, wasn't impressed. no magic, no ranged, gak for mortal wounds meant i spent 2 phases doing nothing and another having my wounds saved by anything i wanted dead. if dwarves dont have the same issues i'm in.

Yeah the khorne bloodbound faction is a pretty weak faction. I imagine the new duaradin are going to be pumping out some mortal wounds much like most of the more modern latest releases.

I see what you did there

I'd expect all the non-infantry have the Fly rule and the vehicles (monsters) have decent movement. Wonder what the Heroes will be like

These guys got so many modelling opportunities as well! Mine will probably have them over the high seas using the realistic water which would make them pop

I'm not entirely sold on the individual balloon dwarfs but those ships are extremely nifty looking! and yes, lots of modeling/conversion potential it looks like.

realism is a lie

So after some more examination I think I was wrong about this, it looks like there will be at least two separate kits due to the number of analogous parts that don't match.

I've still not calmed down. I honestly can't remember the last time I was this excited for a new army. I think that this is the most impressive release GW has done in years.

Also, it'll be interesting to see how AoS handles all these guns and vehicles. It might give us some insight into how a Sigmarised 40k would look.

Agreed!

I just wish I was a decent painter. I'm going to try for a French balloonist look but my skills need work.

Indeed. Now that we have some better images, it looks like the larger gunship is it's own kit for sure, but the two smaller ships are likely a shared kit. As I mentioned in the N&R thread, Steam punk isn't really my thing, but I love that this is just continuing to add flavor and variety to the game! Hoping someone in my FLGS picks these up so I can see them up close.

I know right! I'm jumping into AoS with this army and beastclaw. Screw the 0k and it's never ending tide of space marines,IoM, and chaos realases. Always the same gak.

Still in love with the Grundstok Thunderers so much. Here's hoping they do long range Mortal Wounds or something too, haha (for 180 points too).

In da Mekshop

I'm playing around with the idea of selling my fledgling Genestealer Cult and a bunch of old minis for this army. Really want to play them in 40K as well, maybe using Marine rules.

Love the look, though I have to admit I was hoping for Steamhead Duardin with iron golems/ giant steampunk-mecha-suits. Still, maybe I do 1000 points of the shiny sky squats and then do a 1000 of Steamhead, and ally them together...

One of them has a hand held organ gun. I love that.

@ Gamgee

AoS is fresh and exciting, whereas at the moment 40k is just the same suit of b.o ridden power armour being rehashed again and again.

Yeah, I've pretty much sideline 40k for now. Probably won't look at it again until 8th edition, or at least until the Blood Ravens codex comes out later this year.
