I broke down and bought 1000 points worth of the vanguard stormcast last week.
My other stormcast are the standard gold and blue, which was easy to paint.
Sticking with that would give me a unified scheme for times when I field 2000 pts.
But I'm thinking that the vanguard might look better as more 'scouty'.
Any suggestions?
Hmm, well since your main infantry are gold and blue then I'd suggest green and gold(or darker shade of yellow) to better match them up with the gold being the linking color between groups and any further forces being gold and red such as the heavy cavalry.
I would encourage you to stick with the same colors as stormcast really look most impressive as a cohesive whole. Having said that, there are plenty of options for including more "scouty" colors like tans and browns on the vanguard; as you can paint their weapons in a wood finish and a few of the riders have furs on their bodies which will give the appearance of a front-line unit, while maintaining army cohesiveness.
