So, completely on a lark because I was bored, I started thinking of what Relics and WTs would be like for individual IG regiments (though not army-wide rules or detachments, I haven't thought through it that heavily). So, here's what I came up with. Please tell me what you think.

RELICS:

The Devil's Claw (30 pts)- Melee, Strength User, AP-, Rending, Fleshbane. A finely crafted machete filled with deadly venom

Teeth of the Jungle (20)- Once per game. If the bearer and his unit do not move or run in the previous turn, then anyone attempting to charge them counts as moving through difficult and dangerous terrain. Essentially a trap/pit/minefield that the Catachans can set up

Skull of the Apex Beast (15)- The user and his unit have the Monster Hunters special rule.

Lucky Tattoo (10 pts)- The bearer may reroll a single failed to hit or to wound roll, save of any kind, or "Look Out, Sir!" roll per turn.

The Hidden Flag (50 pts)- counts as regimental standard. In addition, all Catachans in 12" of the Flag gain Stealth and Move Through Cover.

Angry Betty (15 pts)- combi shotgun/flamer:
-Angry Betty- range 12" S4 AP- Assault 2
-Flamer- range Template S4 AP5 One use only

WARLORD TRAITS:

Son/Daughter of the Deathworld: +1 Toughness and It Will Not Die

Brother/Sister in Arms- All Catachans in 12" may use the Warlord's Leadership

Master Trapper- Before the battle begins, may inflict d6 strength 4 ap- rending hits on a single enemy unit.

Unseen Adversary- the Warlord and his unit may Infiltrate, and gain Shrouding.

Deathworld Tactician- up to d3 units may Infiltrate.

Bravado- Warlord is Stubborn. In addition, gains Feel No Pain (5+) in a challenge.

Any thoughts?

Nothing shoots out as overpowering or totally not worth it.

Usable only by IG?

Naturally, usable only by IG. I'm thinking of this as something that a Catachan detachment would unlock.

The devil's claw strikes me as pretty obscenely overpriced. Everything else seems pretty okay though though I'd probably never buy any of the relics for myself given their underwhelming nature.

Angry Betty seems kind of mundane for a relic though. Also, being able to set up a minefield seems kind of...not very legendary artifact grade.

Honestly those relics are really not great (Admittedly most Guard relics suck but still)

Way too pricey, It's a good weapon but not a 30 point one (especially on Guard characters)
Teeth of the Jungle (20)- Once per game. If the bearer and his unit do not move or run in the previous turn, then anyone attempting to charge them counts as moving through difficult and dangerous terrain. Essentially a trap/pit/minefield that the Catachans can set up
This could do with being a tad more dangerous for one use only. maybe make the DT test fail on a 1 or 2 and no armour saves?
Skull of the Apex Beast (15)- The user and his unit have the Monster Hunters special rule.
So the Tau's Puretide Engram neurochip only not as good but the same price?
Lucky Tattoo (10 pts)- The bearer may reroll a single failed to hit or to wound roll, save of any kind, or "Look Out, Sir!" roll per turn.

The Hidden Flag (50 pts)- counts as regimental standard. In addition, all Catachans in 12" of the Flag gain Stealth and Move Through Cover.
An extra 35 points over a normal regimental banner for a Stealth and MTC that Catchans should have as standard?
Angry Betty (15 pts)- combi shotgun/flamer:
-Angry Betty- range 12" S4 AP- Assault 2
-Flamer- range Template S4 AP5 One use only
Honestly, this is just an overpriced combi-flamer that can't even be fired for most of the game

Warlord Traits are all passable to good.

What if the Devil's Claw had Shred? That gives, assuming a T5 or better model, a nearly 1/3 chance of Rending per hit.

Look if you're spending 30 points for a melee weapon on a very squishy T3 model who can at best, get a 4++ save, it had better be something really nice because just using it runs counter to what you should generally be doing with Imperial Guard HQ units (I.E staying the hell out of melee combat with anything even remotely capable of punching back.)

Also, assuming shred acts as a standard reroll to get a six for rending is working on pretty shoddy math, as the weapon has fleshbane. You'd only reroll one in every six times so your chances of getting a rend are barely improved.

Thanks for the replies. Based on the above feedback:

Devil's Claw- the main issue here seems to be that it's overpriced, so how about 15 points? Same cost as a power sword. Otherwise I hear you on it being kind of underwhelming.

Teeth of the Jungle- I had included this because I wanted to incorporate something trap-y into the Catachans, or something completely nonstandard. I'm open to alternative ideas on what the 6th relic could be. In the meantime, as a way of boosting this thing's power, I like the previous idea about making the DT tests ignore armour.

Skull of the Apex Predator- so, again, perhaps a points reduction is in order, to something like 10 pts?

Hidden Flag- I agree with the above sentiment that Catachans should have MTC and Stealth as standard. Assuming, for the sake of argument, that there is a Catachan fandex out there where they do, then maybe an alternative would be a 12" Shrouding bubble?

Angry Betty- to make this gun a little less mundane, maybe make it an underslung heavy flamer instead, and/or make the flamer component not one use only?

One item I had been considering in the early stages was a tattoo denoting a hardened survivor of Catachan, which would confer something like EW/FNP/a toughness boost. In the end, though, I decided to make that a WT.

It's all fun and fluffy with the modifications. I'd go for the blade being a 10pt S+1 AP4 option for any character except commisars* for 10pts

GW should put out some semi official rules tho.

*As if catachans have commisars lol!

I think a major part of the issue is that you have to pay for the veteran upgrades, often it's not worth it.
