If a demon is a portion of a god's power, what happens when they get trapped in a Tesseract Labyrinth?

Is that god's power permanently diminished by a small amount? If so, could you defeat Chaos by gradually exiling every demon encountered into a tesseract?

If Chaos is just a reflection of the turbulence in the warp caused by sentient emotion though, would the gods just not reform in that scenario due to being constantly refuelled?

If so, would releasing a demon not just empower a god above it's previous maximum level? Or would it simply cause all other demons to weaken by a tiny percent by reabsorbing a bit of power from all of them when re-entering the regular dimension?

Could you not even say trap all of humanity in planet sized tesseracts at once, then release them say a century later after the gods had 'starved' and the warp becalmed?

I mean.. technically yes (and they grey knights do this, to a degree) but you are talking about an insignificant amount of power.

I mean, Tyrion and Teclis could beat up Slaanesh and throw her in a dungeon because she got fat from sticking her hands in the elf soul cookie jar for too long; can't be that hard.

Yep, trapping daemons in tesseract labyrinths would in all probability reduce their power. The issue comes that you need orders of magnitude more tesseract labyrinths than there are in the galaxy to have a noticeable effect.

I also think you're on the money with the whole 'if they disappear, won't they just reappear again' thing. Judging by how long it took for Slaanesh to be born, you'd probably have 10-20,000 years of no Chaos Gods (although you'd also have another Age of Strife towards the end of that as their birth-pains cause widespread warp storms).

Really, the only way to actually defeat the Chaos Gods is ridiculous, but theoretically it would work: just be nice to each other.

If the Chaos Gods are reflections of sentient thought in the galaxy, and are so fethed up because the galaxy is so fethed up, then make the galaxy a nice place and they turn nice too. Nurgle curing you of any coughs and snivels you pick up. Khorne righteously defending your right to free speech. Tzeentch planning and plotting away so that you get married to the girl you fancy. Slaanesh making sure that your wedding night with said girl you fancy is...enjoyable.

Never going to happen though. This is 40k. Everyone hates each other and life is terrible.

Well there is another way to kill the Chaos Gods.

Kill everyone. Purge the whole galaxy of every last living thing with a soul as the Tyranids intend to do, and if they survive that, go far, far beyond.

Cleanse every galaxy of every living being, render the stars themselves into dust and tear apart space and time and slay the very universe itself. Leave nothing behind, not even emptiness as even the vacuum of space has no meaning when the entire universe is destroyed.

Like in that 40k/Transformers Crossover (can't find it now) where the Chaos Gods shrieked in terror as they died when Unicron unleashed the Chaos Virus and destroyed the entire 40k universe in the snap of a finger before moving onto another one to kill.

Hah, yep that would just about do it too

TBH, you could do that but leave the Tau, 'nids and Necrons. Maybe Orks too.

Really it's just the pesky Eldar and humans that need to be genocided for the greater good of the galaxy
