Not sure how many times this question is asked so excuse me for asking again. I'm building a death guard list and it will include Helbrutes.
I want to know if Helbrutes can take marks of chaos? I have seen and read conflicting things, but nothing solid. If so, it would be a huge help to get this cleared up. - Thanks.

No they cannot.

They only have the options listed in the codex. Other than that, there are few formations and legacies of ruin. I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume that's what you have read about. Those are from a different book, Imperial Armour: Volume 13, which isn't sold anymore.
You can think of legacies as relics for vehicles, some of which are god themed. There are no marks for helbrutes though.
