With the release of the new hobbit game I wanted to know if any army got a boost with the rules or is any armies got nerfed? And if you can bring anything or you now need a requirement.

The Hobbit Strategy Battle Game came out in 2013... the main things are some tweaks that expanded the usage of Might, and Monsters got better (they were not that great before). So armies that can take cheap Monsters got a little bit of a buff - Moria for instance, with the Dweller in the Dark and Cave Trolls. Plus weapon special strikes (which are rumored to be going away in SBG6)

Warband creation rules are the same as they've always been. One hero allows up to 12 warriors.

Weapon special strikes being gone "strikes" me as a good move.

I was never that fond of it, either. The old single hand, double hand, and spear/pike weapon rules were IMO sufficient to cover a game at this scale. All those special rules for each different hand weapon are nice for RPGs but IMO they just slowed down the game.

Well, special strike arent *that* bad as a concept... where they fell flat was that they add unnecessary dice rolling. Thats bad enough in unit based games where you roll for every squad as a whole, but in a skirmish with independent models? Just doesnt work very well.

I love special strikes for super small scale games. Battle Companies, for example. http://jonathanrbaker.com/battle-companies/

Did they say when the older books are getting a rerelease? Or will they just remain as they are. Id like to circle back to this at some point but I keep thinking they are redoing it/changing points etc so ive been putting it off.

There's no official confirmation that they'll be getting redone. That's only speculation based on the mostly-confirmed ME SBG book for 2018 and that they'd "revisit some old profiles".

As it stands the current 2010-2012 lotr army books are all still valid (with their corresponding faq)

What about getting easier stock? Will it all remain web only?

I beleive the entire range has now moved to white-box packaging and web-only.

I do really hope they revisit the special strikes, seems the only two that gets used is feinting and piercing strike. Leads to some odd looking armies when someone sticks all axes to their woodelves...
