Well ... its now time for the second phase of my Assassin project.... this time we have two Callidus Assassins; again one originates from 1995 and one from 2016.

I do love a Callidus Assassin, these shape-shifting killers are able to infiltrate deep behind enemy lines in order to close down the distance to their prey and then brutally slay them with their nasty looking C'Tan phase swords.

The newer model is very dynamic and it really looks like the female assassin is swooping in to kill her prey... however I have to admit that it does lack a certain degree definition in some areas which makes it a little less enjoyable to paint.

On the other hand I would say that the older metal model is far better sculpted and with its more prominent definition it was much more fun to paint! Again these two models show the scale creep between the 1995 original and its successor.

There are a load more photos and information on my blog at:

I'm really enjoying watching this project progress...next up will be some Eversors!

Great work as always - vastly prefer the old one (I have a compulsion to appreciate models intended for gaming rather than overly large/intricate 'models for models sake' stuff).

Wonderful stuff.

Hurr! Ogryn Bone 'Ead!

Very nice. My favorite is the other 90's sculpt with the similar pose to the new plastic. Something just gets lost when figures are rendered instead of sculpted.

Thanks guys! I agree about the metal model thing; my eye tells me the newer plastics are sharper and cleaner but my heart tells me I like the old metals more.... perhaps it's a generational thing!
