So I am building a Armageddon gang based on what I expect to be used for IG rules since those come the closest to my tech no barbarians but I am not sure how to equip them.
Is anyone else giving it a try ?

Expect 5- 12 guard (gangers), maybe 2 heavy/special weapons teams. A commissar (cawdor, redemptionists) or Lt(every other gang) might carry a bolt gun.
My old Escher would kick yer mum in the gunt and they were hive scum.
But with people running around woth bolt weapons as standard.
Who the feth knows

Yeah I am currently building my models based old Necromunda lists but.. the community page also links to GK terminators and Tyranid warriors.

This makes me wonder if I should equip my heavy with something more substantial than a heavy stubber.

Depends on what my stuff can carry, but I am more curious to see what will be allowed as squads.

Looks like the game is designed around the contents of a squad box, so any weapon options in the box (or in respective codex entry) can be taken. Apparently Ork kill teams max out at 20 figures.

Heavy and special weapons restricted to specialists.
Only hint here is that Skitarii can take 3 specialists.

In addition each kill team can add an unknown number of special operatives, these might work like hired guns from Necromunda.
The IG special operatives looks to be Commissar, Ogryn and Stormtrooper, maybe more.

I hope to us my Inquisitor and retinue with some modification, and ideally a couple new models. Love the reintroduction of RPG elements. I can see this really taking off, and am looking forward to what happens with character progression. Ideally, GW would build this system into 40k, as a simple Shadow War gang can level into inheritable warlord traits, as you can develop your leaders from start to war boss as you build/modify your collection. So I hope to set out my gang accordingly.

I have an idea for three 'Gangs' at present.

First is for my Blood Angels, specifically I hope to be able to bring a mix of Tactical and Scout marines. I also hope to maybe bring second alternative gang cosisting of a handful of Death Company as a fun/choppy build.

Secondly I hope to bring my Vostroyan Guard out as a very shooty style gang, led by my own Vostroyan themed Comissar, armed with a bolt pistol and chainsword of course. I've also got a dual pistol wielding Inquisitor (Gideon Lorr model, slightlt modified) I hope I can build a list around with my Guard models.

Lastly I want to build up a Harlequin gang so my wife can learn how to play, as she has become increasingly interested in learning Killteam and this would be a great way to introduce her to the (likely changing) new edition rules on the horizon for 40k proper. I have a couple of troupe leaders, a shadowseer, a death jester, and lots of harlequin's kiss armed players along with a couple of fusion pistol armed models as well. Really looking forward to seeing what I can do with Harlequins as well.

Those are mine, take it easy for now.

I'm in the middle of converting an Inquisitional warband at the moment.

If they get rules that work in Shadow War, fantastic. If not, then I won't be playing Shadow War.

I'd honestly say wait until we see a rules drop before you make plans. It's such a small force that it won't take long to produce, and it'd suck if you built equipment that you couldn't use. And there always is the option of using whatever you have while you build your dream team (I know at the moment I can manage absolutely any combination of guard team )

I do really hope that I can use my pimpin rough riders, although unlikely, and they'll still likely suck.

Should be easy to port over mounted rules from necromunda anyway, but they would be more suitable for an ash waste campaign.

I have some Tau, Tactical marines and modern infantry gathering dust, but starting Genestealer/ Chaos/ Skitarii cult sounds appealing. Not sure yet.

Well, on an unrelated but happy note, I just rounded up some Steel Legion off of Ebay, which when I eventually pick up Armageddon, seems like a natural fit for me. Depending on what sorts of weapons come into play on the game I'll definitely need to round them out with a few extra additions/conversions, but those are the breaks.

I've also been sitting on a box of Genestealer Neophyte Cultists. I was planning on kit bashing them up with some Cadians to make some shotgun vets and add some variety to my guard, but depending on how Armageddon looks....well, we'll just wait and see on that.

Didn't they have a list up of all the various armies that could be taken from? I believe daemons were missing from the list. So I won't be playing.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Well, I can totally not see this become Marine/Scatbike spam in mini...

But anyway, I guess this is as good an excuse as any to get my old gang oust, and get some of these random squads finished.

I already have Dark Angel Scouts, Dark Angel Marines, Deathwing and Blood Angel Terminators, Chaos Cultists and Marines, Eldar Guardians, Rangers and Dire Avengers (etc.), Guardsmen, Stormtroopers, Genestealers (from Space Hulk) and Cawdors.

I'm currently working on Custodes and Sisters of Silence for my next army - no idea if they'll be playable or not.

The box comes with Orks, so I'll probably paint them up too.

Not really planning any additional purchases unless the game completely supplants 40K as I'll have more options than I'll likely ever use already.

I find it curious that Chaos Marines are listed but standard space marines (Tactical or Crusader) are not.

I hope they can eventually be added if they're not already and simply not on the list. I really would love to field a 5 man Blood Angels Tactical Squad moving in to support a five man Blood Angels Scout team equipped with camo cloaks, kitted out for close assault.

We shall see I suppose.

Take it easy.

I hope they have a unit cap, because a current problem with kill team I think is how a cool thematic heavily converted 5 man deathwatch unit just gets its face kicked in by 60 grots. I just want a skirmish game where hordes are not only not viable, but not allowed. Just doesn't seem right to me.

Isn't the sergeant of a scout squad a full marine, or has that changed?
Would be cool to give him the option to take power armour.

Veteran Scout/Scout Sergeants still wear scout armor versus Power Armor in the current rules. I agree that giving the option for power armor would be quite cool though.

Big mark against it, is that it's not part of a scout box and I'm thinking wargear options are limited to whats in the box.
Would be an easy house rule.

Orks might be better for techno barbarians than IG. More close combat and more funky options.

I too hope for Inquisitors with the full freak show.

Hmm thanks for the link. Interesting that other than scouts and GK there's no marines.

Maybe a hint that that great Embiggening is coming. But surely Death Watch should be an option no?

It's not a complete list.
From what I understand this is just a suggested stock list for retailers to sell along side shadow wars, presumably most stores already sell tactical marines but might not stock all the others.

As good an answer as any.
