So just read it that BIG Ben software developer has announced that they will make a hack and slash Warhammer game set in the Old World!!!

This is great thing to hear for me just show how solid the WHFB license is.

Some further info on the Big Ben website: www.bigben-group.com/news/last-news/bigben-licence-warhammer/

So you're happy that a totally no-name studio who is literally just part-timing in games design is getting their hands on the license for a type of game that really should go against the principles of the setting unless (and I doubt) they put an obscene amount of thought and care?

I'd be crying tbh. Which I'm doing.

EDIT: At least games seem to be well received. Luckily it will turn out to be OK.

I read smartphone somewhere in there..that's worrying.

Edit: oh, wrong article. There's another piece of news on Reddit that said something about BigBen being into smartphones.

And they are into smartphones. AND audio. Designing game is just one of their multiple activities so they aren't extremely trustworthy IMO. Hope I'm wrong though.

Yeah, I get GW's goal for free advertising and different play-outlets for variety but they really need to make a policy of consoles only.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

I dont care.

Gw hand out licences to anyone qwho wants one and is prepared to pay. Its not a bad strategy as its free money.

Some titles will suck, some will end up good, some will be fantastic, or surprise hits.

Everyone knows of the big hit made out of Total War:Warhammer, but many have overlooked Mordheim and Battlefleet Gothic, both of which are very solid and fun games.

These appear because minor studios get licences they might otherwise never get. If they make a good job, all the better if they feth it up, who cares, just mover on to the next licence and cherry pick the ones that work for you.

I hope BigBen make a good show of this licence, and if they do I might buy. If its as bad as many of th GW licence games out there I will shrug and move on and promptly forget the title.

Wasnt there a 40K franchise titles which had marine units advancing on a single running track in tandem agaisnt orc units, the game was slated just about eveywhere and was a total flop.I cant remember the name and cant care to search for it either, its just a GW franchise game that fell by the wayside. Its a case of survival of the fittest, GW has spread its IP about like a male rat shares his seed. Of the multitude that emerges most just die, but some survive and are strong contenders.

I have no problem with GW's computer games licencing strategy, nor do I have any problem with handing out licences to untried software developers. Some very good games have resulted from unliikely quarters.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

Pretty much this, Extra Credits did a show regarding the GW digital licenses, with much the same conclusion, shovelware will be forgotten and gems will shine but GW gets a payday regardless

Vermintide has its followers, so fair enough. We dont know enough about Man O War yet, still in development AFAIK.
Can add Dawn of War though to make up, but that isnt part of the current policy run of licences.

is anyone making an Age of Sigmar based game yet?

I heard it uses less buttons than any of the WFB games...

www.classichammer.com

For 4-6th WFB, 2-5th 40k, and similar timeframe gaming

Looking for dice from the new AOS boxed set and Dark Imperium on the cheap. Let me know if you can help.

Nevermind me, read it wrong, too sleepy to think straight at that moment.

Nope, nothing at all. Still hoping one day Yoko Taro makes a drakengard spin-off with Archaon as protagonist.
