My random thought of the day...

'DEATH TO THE FALSE EMPEROR!'

This is the ubiquitous quote of the forces of Chaos and one if not the primary goal of most Chaos Space Marine forces. Now if Abaddon was successful in his latest crusade or another equally powerful Chaos force reached Terra, defeated the High Lords, Inquisition, Loyalists etc and the Emperor's body was ripped from the Golden Throne what would happen next? With the False Emperor removed who would replace him? My thoughts follow:

1) Without Horus, regency would follow to Abandon if he indeed is the winner. However is Abandon a suitable candidate to be overall ruler? I imagine the other fallen Primarchs would disagree! This leads to point 2.

2) The most successful, powerful or just lucky Daemon Primarch claims the throne for himself over the dominated or down right defeated other contenders. If so which Primarch has it in him to be the Overlord? But what if there is no overall Chaos winner; point 3.

3) Maybe all the players agree to disagree but put up with each other. In the Eye of Terror there was in-fighting but each legion and Primarch tolerated each other to a certain extent for the overall cause. Perhaps a pantheon of Chaos, a sort of Council of Chaos undivided would be created whereby each legion took a certain responsibility for ruling in a style they preffered. I imagine that the Word Beaers would make great diplomatic negotiators in such complicated pacts of shared ruling. This may be too far fetched which leads to point 4.

4) There is no overall ruler/governing body. The forces of Chaos fight themselves for dominance. In such a stalemate each side obliterates the other to the point of no return. The Imperium becomes of husk of dead worlds in a lifeless void. All that can be heard is the echo of laughter from the thirsting Gods...

Which if any of my points would be the hypothetical answer to if Chaos won? If you disagree or have any other better ideas I'd love to know!

- Also as a side note, would the Imperium still exist in some form or another under Chaos? Would the Imperium be torn apart by the other races as Chaos heads for domination never to be reclaimed? Would the forces of Chaos split the Imperium into their own mini empires? Or would vast swathes of imperial worlds claim independence when the Loyalist forces leave their systems to redeploy elsewhere or retreat?

Wont ever happen, we won that big event in the early 00's and they rigged it so chaos didn't get any further than cadia.

Chaos has already won, it's been doing a victory lap for the last 10000 years.

If Abaddon was to ever overthrow the Imperium, the entire galaxy would quickly devolve into an orgy of wanton slaughter and debauchery until there was no one left.

As long as the Imperium survives, Chaos has won.

Gamers aren't particularly forgiving but they have a great ability to suck it up and deal with it. Throwback to highschool treatment I suppose.

Well, with their major goal completed, the Chaos Gods would abandon the disloyal hoe that is Abaddon in a "doesn't want to be our puppet? We'll show him!" manner and Chaos would implode Ork style with all warbands vieing for power and influence, collapsing into a civil war with the leftover Imperium caught in the crossfire, while Necrons reclaim untold territory, Eldar begin burning worlds left right and centre, Orks run riot and thrive on the violent situation and Nids munch the galaxy dry. Eventually Orks beat Crons and Eldar are hunted down by Daemons, mankind dies out, Chaos dies and Orks and Nids fight it out to the death, with either one or the other winning. Whoever wins will inherit the galaxy: Just as the Cabal predicted to Alpharius.

Black crusade reaches terra

emperor dies........ but comes back as a god of order





you reakon he wouldn't be like 'frak it.... time to man up' and become the god people think he is?
