So this comes up enough that I felt compelled to make a thread.

So sometimes, when someone posts a list in the Army Lists section or Tactics section of various games, people will just copy and paste the list directly from the program itself. This has the following issues:
1. It can list every item's point cost individually.
2. It comes out very clunky and a chore to read.
3. Users will typically put less thought into the post as a result.

I'm not sure if this is already a rule that's just not terribly enforced or something that doesn't bother anyone else, but it sure as heck bothers me.

Listing out individual points costs is indeed against the forum rules. We'll only know about it though if we happen to look at the thread or if someone reports it... so please be sure to report any posts that you feel might be an issue.

Well points costs are against the rules, and part of rule 1 is to make sure you put some effort into your posts to make them more readable. So I think a plain copy paste like that should have the poster given a little reminder or something. Nothing too major though.

This is like with anything: you get what you put into it.
Being lazy is readily noticed.
Usually cutting out all the clunky bits and just posting the grand total is the way to go.
GW is pretty tough on anyone giving the details of points costs so it is a big problem for places like Dakka to ensure people do not do that.
Before you light them on fire though, see if they are a relative newbie since they may genuinely not know that is a legal problem.
