Creative Assembly just released the trailer for Total War: Warhammer 2(wouldn't be the name that I'd have chosen) which seems to indicate Dark Elves, High Elves, Lizardmen
and a cheeky Skaven near the end. As a fan of Dark Elves and Lizardmen I wanna be hyped but after the Chaos DLC fiasco i have to temper my expectations.

Runnin up on ya.

Why not just release them as DLC for the first?

So they can price it as a new AAA game i'd imagine. Although whether that is Sega's or CA's decision is anyone's guess.

Is there a trailer like that for the first TW Warhammer? Really makes me nostalgic for the old world.

Because it's a standalone expansion. You can play it independently of owning the 1st. Think of DOW's soulstorm and dark crusade.

I think the chaos DLC was a LONG way from a fiasco. It was free if you bought the game within the first month or so, and hell, might be free now, I honestly don't know. Not so long ago the game was part of a like $12 bundle.

But if not getting a 5th faction for free outside the first month of release kept you from playing TW:Warhammer, you missed out big. It's an fantastic game, and probably the best GW-based video game in a decade.

This looks like more of the same. I'm not personally sure it would qualify as a sequel, but it's fine.

I'm not honestly on-fire about any of the factions other than maybe skaven, but it'd probably be fun.

As an aside: the first was probably the orkiest game I've ever played. Thump all the other ork factions until they join you, then unleash a massive waaaagh on the planet, burning and looting everything.

I especially loved when enemy factions would pay me to stop invading them. I would take their money and continue my assault. Sure, it hurt my trustworthiness rating, but who in their right mind would try to make peace with an ork?

While you have a point it still is a kick in the teeth to have to pay for it at all, regardless of whether it was free for a week. But I did get the base game and I agree that it is damn good.

There was a cinematic trailer for TW:W but it just aint the same when they changed the narrator, still quality though.

It's a way to lower the price and allow new players to jump on. It prevents lockout. If you made it DLC, then you would be charging new players and extra $40 for the base game. Also makeing it a new game lets them design more connected systems.

That makes complete sense, thanks.
