Hello again Dakka!

I have been and gone, the returned and lurked for too long, time to get on board once again!

40k player, around 10k Tyranids, with a few auxiliary armies as meals, uhh, I mean intro armies for friends..

Based in Wellington (Upper Hutt) New Zealand, always keen for more games! Have a group of around 5 others who play semi regularly.

Hello! Mainly 40k, though I have just purchased a hefty amount of Tomb Kings to get stuck into AoS with. What do you play?

Well most frequently x-wing but also;
40k (mix match of rules from 3rd through to 7th,playing four seasons of Eldar, Inq and SM)
WHFB (6th ed. Dogs of War).
Necromunda.
Mordheim.
Infinity.
Malifaux.
Imperial assault.
BFG.
FoW.
DBA.
DBM.

I have played one game of x-wing and quite enjoyed it, not sure if I am ready to commit to another game though! ha.

I did stick my head into the valleycon when that was last on, had no idea something like that went down in little ol' Upper Hutt! Were you a part of that?

They have their yearly bash in June which can be worth a look. Havent been to the club for ages for one reason and another but it was pretty diverse back when I did, although it did tend to lean towards historicals. They are also the people who do Valleycon.

Quick question as you're all already here - is there anywhere here to get paints and stuff that aren't ridiculously overpriced?
GW prices seem to be tripled over here so I'm looking for somewhere to either get them at normal price or get competitor paints like Vallejo or Army Painter

I'm not sure as i have only just moved here myself a few months ago, but if you want to have a game at some point give me a yell

Unfortunately the vast majority of my stuff is tied up in shipping so I don't have much right now. Once I've got some stuff ready I'll definitely be keen to play my first ever game ;D

If you happen to find a place, feel free to share I bought a crap load of GW ones second hand of trademe, and have gotten one or two from GW every now and then as needed..welcome to the bottom of the world, where prices are out of control

Greetings possum, did you pack a shipping container full of GW stuff before you left?

Best prices I have found for hobby supplies is mighty ape (www.mightyape.co.nz) they even slightly discount GW stuff however if you are looking at buying GW models then your best bet is to buy from the US as its way cheaper.

I packed all my supplies, yeah. It's certainly not a shipping container but it is a few cubic metres ;D

I spotted Mighty Ape, gonna go there and get some neccessities.

I'm going to save up and put an order in with my old favourite, Wayland Games in the UK.
They ship to NZ and their prices are 20% off british GW prices. I've spent thousands of pounds there over the years (commission painter for 7 years) and they've always been reliable.

I don't think you will have any joy getting Wayland to ship GW stuff out here mate, as far as I am aware they are supplied directly by the company so have to obey the embargo. There are a few other places that do however.

There's not really an embargo, it's just that for whatever reason GW stores here triple their prices. Wayland offer international shipping storewide with no exceptions listed anywhere.
I may be wrong, of course, but don't foresee any issue.
