Hey

Traitors hate relics specifically say that there can only be one of each in an army and only one of those traitor relics per model.

CSM book doesn't have that type of restriction.

Can I take a black mace and a traitor legion relic on the same character?

hey what time is it?

The FAQ has stated that only one relic may be taken per character. If there was no FAQ restriction then yes.

Is this a generic FAQ? It wasn't in the CSM book.

I'll look into it, thanks

Sorry, I should have quoted. Main rule book FAQ under army lists:

"ARMY LISTS
Q: How many relics/artefacts can a single model be
equipped with?
A: A model can only be given a single relic or artefact
unless specifically noted otherwise."

It also says "unless stated otherwise"

Some codexes allow you to put more than 1 relic on a character.

An example is the normal CSM, and Dark Eldar codices.

Refer to the wording at the top of the Relics page.

Normal CSM does not state you can take more than one relic. It has been interpreted that way before, but it certainly is not an explicit permission.

It has to state that you can take more than one relic, though. The old dodge with come codexes where it said "may replace one weapon with a relic" would not be enough to allow you to take a second relic that didn't replace a weapon like you could in 6th edition.

My point is you can, if the codex allows it. Also like you said to make sure you have enough 'hands' for them.

Yes, it's worth checking, but the answer for the op is "no" because Codex CSM doesn't specify you have permission to.

Just wait until GW puts out Codex: Movie Marines, then there will probably be 20 pages of relics and no limit on how many each Movie Marine can take.

Every relic list I have looked at, details at the top of the list, what the rules are for that pool of relics.

I don't believe that's true for either the normal CSM or the Dark Eldar Codices. I don't recall either of those books having a line that says "a single model may take multiple relics" like the Tau one does, but I don't have access to them this very moment.
