I decided to try my hand at making up a new HQ unit, based around the idea that Ork HQ's are often used as force multipliers rather than power units. Any comments/criticism would be greatly appreciated

From the unrelenting cacophony of massed weapons fire to the guttural roar of a trukk’s engine, all Orks have a love for noise. Some, however, take this attraction to all things loud further than most. They fall into obsession, revelling in both the pure pleasure of noisemaking and the reactions of their fellow boyz. They become Shoutas. Whether wielding crude “musical” instruments or simply yelling warcries at the top of their lungs, Ork Shoutas enter the battlefield determined to make as much noise as possible. Their very presence energises their fellow Orks. As every Ork knows, the louder the battle, the more fun you are having.

Force organisation slot: HQ

Points cost: 30 Points

WS BS S T W I A Ld Sv
Shouta 4 2 4 4 2 3 2 7 6+

Unit type: Infantry (Character)
Unit composition: 1 Shouta

Wargear:
• Slugga
• Choppa
• Stikkbombs

Special rules:
• ‘Ere we go!
• Furious charge
• Independent Character
• Mob rule

Shoutin’:
At the beginning of the shooting phase, an ork Shouta may choose any friendly Ork unit within 6” (including their own) to take a Leadership test. If the test is successful, choose one of the following shouts to immediately take effect on the targeted unit.

-Get ‘em, boyz!
Immediately move the target unit D6” towards the closest enemy unit. In the event of a tie for distance, the controlling player decides which of the equally close units to move towards. The target unit counts as having moved for the purposes of firing weapons, but may still choose to Run.

-Orks is best! Orks is best!
The target unit gains Preferred Enemy(everything except Orks) until the beginning of the controlling player’s next turn.

-Oi, watch out!
Until the beginning of the controlling player’s next turn, the target unit gains +1 to their current cover save. If at any time they do not have a cover save, they instead gain a 6+ cover save.

Options:
• May replace either his slugga or choppa with a shoota……….......free
• May take a Shoutin’ squig (see below)……………………………...10pts
• May take Cybork lungs (see below)………………………………....10pts
• May take a Waaagh! banner…………………………….……………20pts

Wargear rules:
• Shoutin’ squig: When using his Shoutin’ ability, the Shouta may target friendly ork units within 12” rather than 6”.
• Cybork lungs: The Ork Shouta gains Feel no pain(6+). Additionally, if the unit targeted by the Shouta’s Shoutin’ ability fails their leadership test, they may re-roll the result.

I would just like to say I would prefer the name 'Shoutyboy' fits better alongside Mekboys, Weirdboys and Painboys.

I think that ork priests are called "yellers" but I can't remember where I read that. Maybe I'm just thinking of some fanfic and it's not actual canon.

YELL REAL LOUD AN' CARRY A BIG CHOPPA!

Well, fair enough, but if the only thing you both found to comment on was the name, then I'm going to take that as a win

My biggest issue is that absolute last thing orks need are more weak, cheap, HQs (painboyz, wierdboyz, big meks, to an extent). Even with the ork horde detachment, I'm usually full up on HQ slots.

Some pure buffing unit should probably work like mekaniaks.

Other than that, works very similar to IG priests (who also work like little meks, for that matter).

Maybe they should come with some base rule, also like IG priests. I'd love zealot, but that may be too much to hope for.

Maybe something like stubborn or hatred?

Maybe they could work more like Imperial Guard commissars, which are bought outside the FoC and are permantly attached to a unit.
Perhaps remove the range of the yelling as a result?

I'm sure someone more silver tongued than me could create a good fluff reason for them. Perhaps they're kept close by the War Boss to act both as communication on the battle field and to keep da boyz in line while he's busy krumping stuff.

I didn't comment much because Orks really aren't my gig
But faffing overslight name changes is lol.

That is a good point, the HQ slot is probably the most "expensive" part of the unit's cost. I wonder, does your meta place a restriction on the number of detachments you can take? I didn't really see the HQ slot cost as a problem because I'm used to taking at least two detachments and 3-4 HQs already, but obviously that isn't everyone's use case. I'll definitely think about adding a rule like the one meks have. Thanks for the feedback!

Looks pretty good to me. I'd add Stubborn to them, to make a lil' more like Priests, but I like the concept!

Can you charge following a Shoutin' move? That would be an import thing to precise.

To solve the force organisation chart problem, you could make this an upgrade to the nob of any regular ork boyz mob, bu limit its Shoutin' to his own squad only. You would also have to add a bosspole to his potential gear.
