Which of these bands do you think has the best songs about Warhammer 40,000?

I'm a fan of Bolt Thrower and D-rok.

They provided the soundtrack to a lot of my games back when

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

Bolt Thrower - but admittedly it's the only one I've actually seen or heard and own any records of. D-Rok rings a bell in that I probably saw an advert in some old White Dwarf, but I never got the record.

Sabbat was another band who did some 40k/chaos in general material.

I still have the flexi-disc from an old WD somewhere (now that vinyl has come back into fashion, it should be possible to get something to play it on.

Never really liked any of them, though. Wasn't into that style of music.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

DOW is OK. The rest of this list is Metal, which I don't care for. Classic Rock or GTFO.

Hawkwind, Rhapsody of Fire and Manowar are very W'Ham-esque and better than anyone I'm familiar with on that list.

I assume you are not a fan of the genre in general because they are pretty decent.

I would be surprised to find someone who digs Suffocation or Obituary and who also dislikes Bolt Thrower.

You are correct there, it was same old schtick: Get a permanent wracking cough and a black t-shirt, then 'sing' while trying to swallow the microphone, while guitarists line up for rank bonus and play the same riff over and over again under their long hair backed up by wall sized speakers. Lighting optional and not recommended.

Not a fan. So much prefer quality metal acts like G'n'R or Iron Maiden.

Debauchery is several warp jumps ahead of any other band in this list. Surely less involved in the 40K lore but by far better.

Bolt Thrower mostly because GW actually did do some of the album artwork for them, and they acknowledge Warhammer is gave them there early inspirations. Sad that they disbanded a few years back after their long time drummer died unexpectedly.

Sabaton all the way (granted it isn't about 40k, but they fit so well).

Funnily enough listening to a Steel Legion Tribute with Sabaton's Wehrmacht when I found this thread.

"Enemies of the Imperium, hear me. You have come here to die. The Immortal Emperor is with us and we are invincible. His soldiers will strike you down. His war machines will crush you under their treads. His mighty guns will bring the very sky crashing down upon you. You cannot win. The Emperor has given us His greatest weapon to wield. So make yourselves ready. We are the First Kronus Regiment, and today is our Victory Day. " - Governor-Militant Lukas Alexander, Commander 1st Kronus Regiment

Bolt Thrower. Those Once Loyal is actually a really great album for when I'm in the mood for that style of music. Admittedly, it's definitely not for everyone and I can't listen to it every day, but when the urge strikes I'm happy to fire up "When Cannons Fade" and paint Basilisks.

Bolt Thrower are the only one with legitimately good tunes, in my book. Also absolutely top characters - dealt with them in a few capacities over the years putting on metal shows and festivals and I couldn't say a bad word about them. Well, other than their being a nightmare to actually convince to play at anything...

Update: I just listened to Those Once Loyal on YouTube while vacuuming and mopping my house. It's still just as crunchy and awesome as ever.

Outgunned. Outnumbered. But never outclassed.

I grew up listening to hardcore. I saw Minor Threat at Wallys in south Bethlehem, pa in October of 81. I also listened to quite alot of death metal. Big fan of Death and Napalm Death. Slayer is one of my favorite bands. And I too still have my flexie disk From White Dwarf.

Chaos Gate had better music than DOW.

I went with Bolt Thrower as they're the best "band" that sings about 40K

www.classichammer.com

For 4-6th WFB, 2-5th 40k, and similar timeframe gaming

Looking for dice from the new AOS boxed set and Dark Imperium on the cheap. Let me know if you can help.

While not explicitly about 40K, these guys are very obviously inspired by the lore. Heroic power metal.

Dunno whether that's a "band" actually but in none metal stuff I came across "Galaxy aflame", which is sweet to listen to in my opinion. Bolt thrower is way too old fashioned for me.

But I voted HMkids cause they have some in Russian.

There is a russian Band named Beorn, their Song Galaxy in Flames is about the 40k Universe. They're singing in English.

Their first Album is a bit WHFB like, while the second goes 40k because it plays Story vise thousands years after the first one.

What's DOW ?

Also it is interesting to note that out of all of the bands you can choose from in the Poll, only one is named after an actual production miniature from Games Workshop

Also early in Warhammer Fantasy Battle, many races had access to the Bolt Thrower as a Siege Weapon, not just Elves; there was a metal Dwarf bolt thrower sculpted in fantastic detail courtesy of Marauder Miniatures

Bolt Thrower! Mostly because I got to see them live twice at the same fest before they broke up. Sabbat (UK) are sick too, those first two albums are classic though I don't think warhammer inspired.
