I just watched watched this horror movie and loved it. It has a total Lovecraft/the Thing vibe going on. If any of you horror fans get a chance check it out

I just saw it as well.

Low budget but pretty cool. Started off pretty wild and didn't really let up.

Love me some cosmic horror, and practical effects.

Yeah visual effects are one of my pet peeves in movies. Im not saying you cant use CGI but too much or just bad CGI kills the immersion for me. I was happy as soon as I saw that chick start spitting tentacles

Saw this one. Maybe I had too much vodka, but it seemed like kind of an incoherent mess plotwise with some neat visual callbacks to other movies (specifically John Carpenter films). The creature feature side was fine, but the narrative structure and pacing needed work. Still, for the budget it was good and a lot better than the Bye Bye Man, which I also saw, but was more just cut and paste elements from better movies as opposed to homage.

Yeah, I didn't expect much within ten minutes of watching, and some stuff never really made sense, but was still entertained.

I just appreciate that you can tell effort was put into it, without getting campy. I gave it a C+.

I read some where, a review or something, that says its intentionally left empty like that. Uh...I dunno about that, because there are certainly things Id like to know more about but as I said, its a good little horror movie

Definitely not a fan of cheap CGI, nor inappropriate CGI.

Didn't know this thread was here, hence being late to the party.

For me, this is one of the best horror films I've seen in a long old time. Yes the budget means the odd effect here and there isn't great, and it wears its influences on its sleeve, but this is a worthy entry to the horror pantheon.

Rating? At least a B, 4/5 8.5/10 for me.

It's not flashy. It's not showy. It's competently made, decently acted, and definitely not a mere retread of films that came before it. But importantly, it holds your attention.

Horror needs more entries like this one!

This thread has peaked my interest and I have rented the film on my iTunes account. I do like good horror, and in this trash plagued genre even mediocre films can be good. Plus I like Lovecraftian stuff so lets see what its got XD

Caught this a wee while back.

Worth a watch IMO.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I like it. I saw some crucial twists from a mile away, but there were a few in there I didn't expect which is always a surprise. It's very "The Thing" and I've always enjoyed a good creature feature.

I only have two criticisms. One is that the film could have established some of the interpersonal relationships better. I didn't even realize the one lady was the guys wife until halfway through the film. Don't know if I just missed something or what, but its an important detail that would have been helpful to know earlier. I also felt the most annoying part of the entire film were the bearded guy and his son, who seem awfully hellbent for two guys who know jack all about what is going on. I think the film stutters as it moves toward the end and that's mostly because its premise kind of begins to unravel under an avalanche not even vaguely answered questions (which is annoying to me but probably not to everyone), and sudden details that should have been mentioned earlier.

I give it seven feather caps out of ten

If you liked The Thing you'll like The Void. If you enjoyed the low budget sci-fi horrors Alien Raiders and Harbinger Down you'll definitely like it.
