What are the relationship between Night Lords and Death guard? I haven't read too much of the fluff and I was thinking about getting a NL formation with my DG.

Chaos warbands don't have set relationships. Any particular warband of the Death Guard may have an eternal oath of fealty to any particular Night Lords warband. Or any Night Lords warband could be the most hated enemy of any particular Death Guard warband. Or both at the same time!

CSM warbands are one of the most mutable organizations in all of 40k.

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

Well the Night Lords would definitely look down upon the Death Guard for being so weak as to fall to corruption (despite being renegade they hate the chaos Gods and banish/execute any of there own who fall to the Gods). However, they would still fight alongside the DG in order to bring down a greater enemy like the Imperium.

A NL detachment can still be fluffy when allied to a corrupted legion, however they would most likely resent being ordered around by a DG Lord.

Well, they don't really. The Night Lords don't really have any kind of rules overarching to their legion, because they have no central authority. They're mostly just tiny bands who stay together out of inertia.

The only thing they are even slightly on the same page about is running away from any fight that might be difficult, and very rarely they'll ignore that.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

In a fluff perspective the only Primarchs both Night Haunter and Mortarion got along with were Horus and eachother.

They both appreciate the theatrics of death and brutality in war.

They were both the Goth outcasts.

My own personal. CSM collection has always been Death Guard and Night Lords, and the Warband connection was based on that friendship. They might have started on a joint campaign during the Heresy and just stuck around fighting the Long War since then. I have used this as the basis of my CSM collection for years now.

Its cool that they have some fluff where they're both mentioned, do you have a link, or info on where you read it?

I wanted a murder talon command choice to go with my DG, seems thematic and cool, plus i want to paint something other than DG for once.
