Thanks for the add. I am a new Word Bearers player for Horus Heresy. Advice on starting a Horus Heresy Legion in general is much appreciated.

Greetings, brother. I suggest you start with the Betrayal at Calth boxed set. Then, you'll have to choose which Rite of War you'll want to focus uppon (vanilla or legion). I myself chose the Pride of the Legion RoW because the starter set is perfect for it. I recommend you make the following with the starter set contents (and some Kromlech bits):

Praetor in terminator armor.
Chaplain.
Terminator command squad.
Legion Veteran tactical squad x2
Legion support squad with either plasma or melta guns (buy your guns on Kromlech website).
Contemptor dreadnought.

I then suggest you buy some rhinos, a land raider and maybe other dreadnoughts. It would be a good, balanced, non-op force. Of course, other paths are possible.
