I was watching Rogue One again today and the Shoretrooper (also known as the Coastal Defender Stormtrooper) REALLY Appeals to me as they have Kama's, and more "Gritty" Look compared to the normal Stormtoopers "Polished White" Colour

So, what is YOUR Favourite Variant of Stormtrooper?, these can be First Order Stormtroopers, Snowtroopers, Scout Troopers Etc

Shadow Troopers. Black Ops Storm Troopers that can actually hit something with their blaster. Definitely shouldn't be confused with those wacky Deathtroopers from Rogue One.

H.B.M.C.- The end hath come! From now on armies will only consist of Astorath, Land Speeder Storms and Soul Grinders!
War Kitten- Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...
koooaei- Emperor: I envy your nipplehorns. <Magnus goes red. Permanently>
Neronoxx- If our Dreadnought doesn't have sick scuplted abs, we riot.
Frazzled- I don't generally call anyone by a term other than "sir" "maam" "youn g lady" "young man" or " HEY bag!"
Ruin- It's official, we've ran out of things to talk about on Dakka. Close the site. We're done.
mrhappyface- "They're more what you'd call guidlines than actual rules" - Captain Roboute Barbosa
Steve steveson- To be clear, I'd sell you all out for a bottle of scotch and a mid priced hooker.

I've actually been quite the fan of the newer films Troopers. So Shoretrooper, Death Trooper and the First Order Troopers would be my favorites. From the OT its gotta be Scout Troopers and Storm Commandos.

I like the armour design of the 1st generation Clone Troopers. The ones that have the T shaped eye lens like Mandalorians.
I wish Lucas had done these guys with real actors in suits instead of CG.

If I have to pick a second favorite, it would be the First order Troopers. I have a thing for sleek armour.....probably why I play Eldar in 40K
Speaking of 40K Star Wars.....I'm just gonna leave this here:

I generally really like all Stormtrooper and Clone armour sets. Far better than anything the Rebels have (puny Rebel scum!).

My favourites would be Phase 1 clone trooper armour, ARC trooper armour, Imperial Scout Trooper armour, Storm Commando armour, and the First Order armour.

They/them

Any trooper getting wrecked by Rogue One. Those are the best.

Failing that, the original design is still the best, I think. Faceless but scowling, less than practical, easily conveying the idea of the lockstep legions of a totalitarian Empire.

I like the New Order troopers in general since they seem more effective than your typical original era troopers.

If we are getting into Clones, then I need to add Republic Commando, ARC (Phase 1 and 2, I have the Sideshow Toy ARC-5555 on my work desk), Phase 2 Armor (love that hybrid of Clone and Stormtrooper) and the Galactic Marine armor.

I believe this is called the "Riot Control Trooper".

I just realized, he's wearing jammies. All he needs is a repulso-surf board!

Never liked the Shore Troopers, I mean I see the need for specialized desert or snow armor but Shore? Does he have SPF 50 force fields?

For me gotta say something for the Sand and Snow Troopers, the armor managed to look convincing like something someone might come up with for the environment in question.

How does an orange shoulder pauldron help in a desert?

My preference is still the original armour, as seen bursting into the Tantive IV.

This one! She used to go to GenCon.

Order 68 may or may not be a restraining order...

Them being sword and shield T-800s can have that effect. I was always a fan of the Phase III but then I've always loved power armor.

Thanks to its inability to stop incoming fire, even from rocks hurled by teddy bears, Stormtrooper armor is immune to functional debates.

I love the Snowtroopers, myself.

Factual Statement: My one problem with listing Dark Troopers is... they aren't even the best droid. HK-47 is simply the greatest droid of all time. If they can't even take best droid then they can't make best storm trooper in my logic.

I just realized, we know that TK-421 gets knocked out or something so han and luke can rob him like the criminals they are, but we never learn of his ultimate fate. i like to think he survived somehow, far far away from his post.

Although I'm not sure if they ever explained why Sand Troopers have visible designators for squad leaders and commanders while regular stormtroopers don't.

As for the topic, I always loved the Scout Trooper armour, although the Phase 1 Arc Trooper armour runs a close second.

Galactic Marines are pretty cool looking. ROTS had a lot of cool designs. Clone Commandos and ARC Troopers are also great.

But it's Scout Troopers. Those are the ones I like the most.

My head cannon is it was some sort of cooling unit, and the fully armored Sand Troopers made a great contracts with the more naturalistic sand people, jawas and farmers of Tatuine. The point being I can see deserts as a place you need specialized armor, unlike say the Shore.

I also think there's something interesting in that the Clone Troopers had very personalized armor and adopted names (becoming more individual as the war went on) while the Storm Troopers who by and large were ordinary humans became more homogenized with identical armor and numbers over names. I wonder if it was deliberate and may point at what the end game of the Emperor was, a galaxy where no one thought for themselves.

Probably still locked in the Falcon's smuggling holds - for Han and Chewie's special fun times.
