Ok, so I just got the AOD supplement (way late, I know), and I was seeing the formations and wondering, since I'm doing ultramarines, can I take stuff like shadow strike kill team or a stormlance battle demi company?

1. If it says need Ultramarine Chapter tactics or doesn't have a Chapter tactics restriction, then Yes you can

2. No, you can still take it but wont get the Strike force bonuses

Ok. So in theory, could i take a full gladius battle company, with a 10th company task force and a shadow strike kill team?
Main question being the 3 units of scouts. If you took them, would they qualify for both formations of the task force and kill team, or do I need another unit for the kill team?

a unit can only be used in a single formation

The Gladius Strike Force has a clear list of formations that can be taken within it. Only those will gain the meta-formations command boni.

You may take any other formation or a CAD or AD next to the Gladius, but it will be separate and won't fill any slot or receive any command boni.

That means you could do:
[Gladius: (Demi) + (Demi) + (10th Company)]
(Shadowstrike kill team)

Ok. So if I were to do that, and like I said, they would all be ultramarines, then would everyone benefit from the scions of guilliman tactical doctrine?
And the strike force would have an additional set just for them, correct?

If you select Ultramarines for everyone, then indeed everyone has Ultramarine Chaptertactics, i.e. Scions of Robby G. That rule gives you three buffs (tactical, assault, devastor) that you can use once per game each. The Scions rule explicitly states that it affects "All Ultramarine models in your army". That means both the Shadowstrike Kill team AND the Gladius.

Now, in addition to that, one of the Gladius Strike Force Command benefits is Codex Astartes. That does the same thing, however it affects all models with Chapter Tactics (any, not just UM), but only those that are part of the Gladius Strike Force. That means it wouldn't affect the models in the Shadowstrike Kill team.

There is no model for conversion beamers. You would have to scratch build it.

Valthex has the beamer but no servo arm, at least not in the normal style.

You can also use this as a source component but be aware that that gun is quite a bit larger than Valthex's one and also represents an up-rated variant.

I come with another question. I see formations for pinion battle demi- company and stormlance battle demi- company. I know if you take 2 battle demi companies you get a battle company. Does the same thing apply with the pinion and stormlance? And if it does, what extra stuff do they get? (Free razorback for the stormlance would be nice lol)

GW didn't repeat the blunder known as FREE RIDE Gladius Strikeforce with later publications. So you don't get any free rides when using AOD-Demi-Companies.

Don't fret though, odds are that with 8th Edition, Gladius will dead as well.
