So I started a game with my friend who hadn't played in a while. He had a Wolf Lord and I had a Flying Hive Tyrant. He used a relic bolter with the Hell Frost rule. Since my tyrant was swooping he had to shoot snap shots. He rolled a six to hit and to wound. Then since I had taken a wound in my psychic phase i got a 5+ Feel No Pain. I rolled a 1 on my armor save and a 3 on my Feel No Pain. That is the tale of how I lost my warlord.

I fight for my masters. Even if I am destroyed, it means I get an upgrade later.

Well since you were taking your FNP the relic bolter wouldnt be doubling out your T, nor must it have the instant death rule. Did you fail your FNP and then remove the model due to the hellfrost rule? because thats not how hellfrost works. You have to fail a strength test after taking a wound to be removed from play. How did you get a 5+ in your psychic phase if you took the wound in the shooting phase, or was this a buff you applied in your psychic phase? (dont know tyranid psychic stuff too well). Either way after failing your armour and then FNP, you have to fail a strength test to be removed from play for every wound you took. Since your hive tyrant is S6 how did you fail it

Well, even if hive tyrant is S6, rolling 6 on the strength test would be automatic failure. And this would happen the same way even if the model had strength 10.

You learn something new every day I was wondering what was happening.

Sounds like terrible luck for the OP. Did you anger the dice gods?

Hellfrost worked?! It's not prolific enough to ever be used effectively usually. Love the effect but it's only on a few weapons.

I forgot about the S test but the 5+ FNP came from my warlord trait where if I take a wound then my warlord gains a 5+ FNP for the rest of the game.

Unlucky dude! Sure does suck. Ive had similar things where ive had this master plan for a game, only to have it fall to pieces round 1 or two due to a unlucky dice roll

My favorite warlord loss was in a game at the recent LVO. Mirror matched reclamation legion. Turn two charge of my canoptek harvest into my opponents. Both our overlords on their own assault each other. I wiff all my attacks, my overlord fails leadership, but escapes, only to move 11 inches off table.

I imagine the overlord taking one wound and being all "Screw this I'm going back to the pyramid." and walking off the battlefield in the direction of home.

Also, the canoptek harvests took and dealt no wounds for the next 4 turns. It was awesome.

On the other end it's cool to take out a warlord via Shokk Attack Gun Turn 1 with a Vortex roll. Love that gun!

Omg this! Now all I can imagine is that overlord straight up just pimp-walking off the battlefield in a dazzle of lights and confetti

Pffft, I managed to fry my own warlord with Perils of the Warp top of turn 1. My opponent said it's the first time he got both First Blood and Slay the Warlord before he even had his first turn!
