So, im thinking of the best way to run a vampire lord, I know they can be pretty killy aswell as good casters.
Me and my friends are debating.
One says a Knightmar mounted with a blade, I cant deny that will be good, because of the extra attack.
The Vamp Lord on dragon seems good, With his whirlwind of attacks.
But im kinda liking the Guy on the abyssal terror guy. Some of my friends say that because he is OOP I shouldnt take him, but he seems pretty boss. His spell would be brutal on the other death units(Could you imagine that on a mournghuls, suddenly that thins moved 24" and pounded your face in.
He is cheaper and can still slay beasts with ease, he likely wont kill other heroes though.

It may just be me, but whenever I see a Vampire Lord on Zombie Dragon, I know he's..

A. Hefty amount of points.
B. A Lynchpin of some Undead Armies (be it general or Deathless save)
C. A magic-throwing nuisance
D. A fraking Dragon.
and E. Needs to Die.

So I kill him first. Usually with shooting and/or Troglodon and Stegadon combo.

Putting the Vampire Lord on something smaller will psychologically make him less of a threat, and give your opponent something to think about when he actually makes it into combat, instead of being focused Turn 1.

It's fully within the rules for me to look up your Facebook page, find out your dear Mother Gladys is single, take her on a lovely date, and tell you all the details of our hot, sweaty, animal sex during your psychic phase.
I mean, fifty bucks is on the line.
There's no rule that says I can't.

At the same time, if you're taking a zlod, he shouldn't be your only big threat. That way, if someone like above does decide to single him out... they get screwed over by the terrorgheist, or the big squad of morghasts, or etc etc. and if they decide to go for the second big threat, zombie lord is fine. If they split their forces to deal with both... well chances are they can't and if they do, the rest of the army stomps them.

To be honest I use to run a couple with wings, they don't look worth dealing with by your opponent. Having that extra movement but not having the horse to give it away means a lot of the time you've got a beatstick stuck into his army before they know it.

VLoAT's movement spell with blood knights is pretty devastating because they alreayd move fast, and do d3 damage on the charge.
