The Grundstock Gunhauler and Skywardens are really going to have to act as the cavalry here. Without transports my units on foot are going to have to be able to lay down overlapping fields of fire so the Gunhaulers and Skywardens are going to have to play the wild card and fortunately they can pack a punch.

Skyport:Barak-Mhornar
Battalion: Grundstock Escort Wing

Leaders:
2x Aether-Khemist

1x Aetheric-Navigator
-Athermatic-Loupe

Arkanaught-Admiral
-Baleful Mask

Battleline:

3x10 Arkanaught Company
-2Skyhooks
-Skypike

Other Units
3x Gunhaulers
-Drillcannons

2x5 Thunderers
-1 Mortar
-1 Aetheric Cannon

1x6 Skywardens
-Grapnel Launcher

You're missing a Frigate to have the batallion. I have been working on the exact same type of list - Barak Mohrnar and escort wing. There's just so much potentiale for destruction with getting +1 to hit on one unit and re-rolls on another. Unfortunetly it is just really difficult to make it work in a 2000 point liste I think.

Escort wing

3x gunhaulers
1x frigate
1x thunderers
3x skywardens (or vice versa)

Leader and Battleline
1xEndrinmaster
3x arkanauts

Thats what I'm building towards (ends up at 1940)...getting leaders in is the real hassle, but I dont see only having the Endrinmaster as much of a problem. Add your fourth gunhauler and arkanauts plus 2 more thunderers/skywardens for 2480.

My question is, though, Focus Fire states you pick an enemy unit in the shooting phase...then you add +1 to the hit rolls for any units from the battalion if all its attacks are on that unit...does that carry over to the combat phase? Certainly doesnt say it only applies in the shooting phase or only to shooting attacks, just says thats when you pick.

That sounds a lot like the list I'm thinking about, i would just change 6 of the sky wardens to endrinriggersm you have the points left and they're better so why not.
Please let me know how it works out for you.

Regarding the +1 to hit from focus fire- I'm pretty sure it's ment to be onlye +1 in the shooting phase. No it does not state specificallly that it's only in the shooting phase. But I think this is one of those situations where you "logic". Since you choose a unit in the shooting phase and not in the hero phase, I would say it only counts in the shooting phase. Anyway any unit you choose should be gone by the time your shooting phase is over
