Anyone else notice that the spammers are getting a bit prolific these days? Don't get it on B&C. No critisiscm intended of the mods etc of Dakka.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

Really, cause it seems like that's exactly what is intended.

Why is this a problem requiring MODS? I've been a moderator and later an administrator before. No need to discourage usage of the forums. These things survive entirely on activity. If a topic is discussed into oblivion due to very recent previous threads it'll sink to the bottom and get buried by new recent topics. A natural and normal death for most threads. MODS are for inflammatory conflicts, topic management and other less desirabble activity that is more harmful of ignored. In this case just let nature take its course.

In fact, in this instance, this thread belongs in Nuts and Bolts as it's a topic about DakkaDakka forum and not 40k however you got snarky and the title is misleading. If you were serious about this topic, rename it and have it placed in its proper spot.

OK OK I see the ad bot now. First time I seen one slip in here. Cute. Kill it with

Quite wrong.

The reason I flagged this is because some poor individual may actually click on one of those spam threads and get stung.

I appreciate MODS are not omnipotent.

Also, if this needs moving please feel free to do so.

Random Roll of the dice really. Spammers generally don't care which websites they flood, but they know to rotate to new ones every so often because their IPs often get banned.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Probably better suited here...

Anyway, I think we do a pretty good job of stamping out spammers here.

Lego has set up some good obstacles, but 'real human spammers' will always be able to get through if they really, really want to do so, but they're only able to do so much before they're identified, purged and it is almost as if they were never here...

We've got fairly good Moderator coverage, in terms of locations and time zones but - and I know this may come as a bit of a shock - we also have... real lives too!!!

And yes, it does help when the users report them - so thanks for that too!

I have no clue how Dakka's moderation work. I expect it involves throwing a lot of d100 and looking at many random tables.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.
