Interested to see the make up of the plastic infantry, e.g. are we getting the grenade launcher units? will it be possible to take the machine guns as a separate unit to attach out etc?

Not sure I need more AAA, especially given how lacklustre the Gopher is due to the low rate of fire and the good save NATO aircraft seem to have (unless the heavier missiles start modifying that save)

2S3 battery is something I'm interested in though, Guessing its a division level battery to replace the division level 2S1 option?

Not too fussed on the T-64, expecting it to be expensive and to die easily, even more of a glass hammer than the T-72 when it comes to killing stuff, but too easily killed itself to be overly useful unless a Soviet list finally gets something thats a bit harder to hit

Interested to see it though

You're not likely to see anything that's harder to hit (at least not anytime soon) because it's not appropriate for Pact tactics of the time. Pact tactics took the view of "more casualties now for fewer casualties later". That doesn't mean reckless or human wave attacks. But it does mean that the focus was taking the objective quickly even if it cost a few more casualties. The casualties taken now would be more than balanced by the casualties you avoided later because you'd already seized that ground.

This is a point that's come up from time to time on the Battlefront forums, btw, with players bringing up post-Cold War discussions that they've had with Russian officers who were in the Soviet army during the '80s.

Being easier to hit encourages you to quickly go for the objective, instead of getting bogged down in long-range firefights.

May be scope for some more elite units though, small and specialised ones otherwise the red army gets a bit samey after a while.

Don't see a lot here for Blokov's little force beyond maybe an artillery upgrade but frankly I don't generally have the points and don't expect the T64 to be different enough to bother with. Will look though

Still not as samey as the US, which still only has two lists. IMO, the US is more in need of the update than the Soviets. But a Soviet release makes more sense from a " NATO's been getting all the attention" standpoint.

As fellow American player i cannot wait For stripes i should bring us on par with the Soviets and other NAtions.
For stripes we are going to get some nice kits.My worry is how much of it will be resin.from the pipeline what Americans are getting so far.
M60 tanks, i hope these will not be resin because they can get expensive.
Sgt. York ? this one would work as a option for a plastic m60.
Stinger MANPADS?new plastic model?
Chapperal /Resin
Bradley/REisn?/Plastic would be nice

Hummer/ Plastic? 50 cal., Stinger and Tow options
Some type of Chopper has been mentioned. my guess would be a Blackhawk.
so i think it will be pretty decent additions should bring the Americans on par with everyone else.
But what is looking promising is the fact of PSC/ Battlegroups new game NoRTHAG
which i think will be great, especially if we see more releases like the T 55, i am already in for few of them.
Maybe we will get lucky and PSC is working on a LEO 1 tank next..

I hope not. The Warsaw Pact so far has been very strictly held to (quite conservative imo) historical intro dates, adding paper units to NATO would be blatant favoritism.

Unless you really want a heap of mot.schutzen without paying for BMPs I don't see much point in the BTR Kompanie. The Fagot is pretty bad against NATO tanks and you'd be better off taking a BMP2 Kompanie for the Konkurs spam since NVA tanks lack AT power.

There have been some hints that the Sgt. York system might make it into the game. Specifically, one of the BF guys has noted on the forums that the criminal charges were ultimately dropped, suggesting that the charges of fraud were bad, and that as a result the system might have eventually been made workable if it hadn't been cancelled. However, we don't know for certain that it will be in Stripes. It might be something that BF plans to release further down the road. Or the BF guy might have just been noting that the fraud charges were ultimately unproven.

If Sgt. York *does* make it into the game, then the rationale would be "this is the year that it probably would have shown up if it hadn't been cancelled as it was in the real world".

In any event, wait and see is in order. We don't know what will be in Stripes. No sense in getting concerned about something that might not even be in the book.

We do know that American weapons systems that were released just after 1985 - such as the Apache and the M1A1 - are not going to put in an appearance yet. The one American item that's borderline and could easily go either way, imo, is the M1IP.

OR M1A1
About 5,000 M1A1 Abrams tanks were produced from 1986–92 and featured the M256 120 mm (4.7 in) smoothbore cannon developed by Rheinmetall AG of Germany for the Leopard 2, improved armor, and a CBRN protection system.

Like many people I've built my Abrams as the m1a1, I know they aren't in the book but the later model looks better and though I might as well future proof them seeing as the parts were on the sprue.

Can't wait for the humvees and blackhawks. Hopefully you will be able to make ca at teams with the humvees.

It's too early for the M1A1, as Team Yankee's version of World War 3 explicitly starts in 1985.

Like I said I know they arnt in the book. I built mine as m1a1s like many people have and use them as m1s, you'll find people all over the team yankee forums and the net that have made them in to the later model.
I don't see it has any impact on the game and also lets me use them for other periods and systems. Some will get a lick of desert colour in the end.

My comment was a response to Kenny, not you. You can build your tanks however you want, just so long as your opponent isn't confused about what you're running. Since there's only one model of M1 in the game at the moment, that shouldn't be an issue. And unless the M1IP is statted out, it will remain that way for the immediate future.

The M1A1 will only get stats when the time line finally advances (and BF has made it clear that the timeline *will* advance if the game continues to sell well).

Man I can't wait!

The Soviet Union’s most powerful forces are stationed in East Germany and Czechoslovakia poised on the border with West Germany ready to strike at a moment’s notice. They are equipped with the very best Soviet industry has to offer, from sophisticated missile firing T-64 tanks and powerful T-72 tanks to versatile BMP infantry fighting vehicles, as well as plentiful BTR-60 armoured personnel carriers.

Supported by elite Afgansty Air Assault troops, powerful self-propelled artillery, and effective and numerous antitank and anti-aircraft weapons, there will be little that the corrupt capitalist armies of NATO can do to stop them. Soon the western workers will be free and the dawn of a new socialist age will begin.

From the rumours I've heard, the new Potecknov's Bears comes with 5 T-72s instead of 9 but will have the Charlie's Chieftains minirulebook.

Its more of a desire to do something different than any belief I'm going to create a optimum tournament list. I just thought T-55s and BTR-60s would be fun and different from the samey-same T-72 and BMP list everyone seems to be fielding for Soviets and East Germans.

Yes, the game starts in 1985. IIRC though BF has said that they intend to advance the time line at some point in the future, to be able to include newer equipment.

Which I mentioned in my posts both before (heavily implied) and after (explicitly stated) the post of mine that you quoted.

Yeah, if you're going to go T-55s and BTR60s, you should probably play smaller point games, otherwise you'll have a giant parking lot of T-55s considering how much Battlefront tends to take of cheap tanks.
