Playing this game right now and it's amazing. This is the good PC game I was waiting for. Runs perfect, no glitches, tons of freedom to handle the combat and encounters, and interesting level design. It's been too long my old PC since we've had a great game to play that wasn't an indie. I really get to let my pc loose on this one. To anyone that like systemshock or bioshock you owe it to play this game. It's definitely on the slower and very difficult side. Expect to get your ass kicked and need preparation. Even on the easier difficulties its possible to die in one or two hits. You will need to scrounge for ammo and parts to make ammo. Also so far the story is more interesting than a typical fps game. I'm only a few hours in so i can't say if it will end up being that good. Also it really reminds me of Half Life 1 in the beginning.

I don't want to spoil too much because experimentation and figuring things out is the key to this game. I'm surprised there is no topic on dakka when it so clearly deserves it.

That moment when you finally get a real gun and it feels so good to finally bring the pain on an equal level. If the game keeps this up it could end up being the fps of the year for sure (but is going to have a tough time for game of the year with all the other crazy contenders).

I just had my first glitch. A very minor one. I went to the main menu and then went back to the game and the main menu had some of it staying on the screen and I could see the mouse. Reloading fixed it.

I had a long look at this last night and was very tempted.
I love the way it looks like a cross between system shock2, doom and bioshock.

Are you far into the campaign?

I just got to my first space walk segment and I'm surprised they put this much thought into it. I can basically fly around the whole station.

So far I haven't got any alien powers, but I think it's imminent because I'm about to fly into a weird glowing blue crack in the hull of the station that is clearly alien in design.

So far I've had too much fun trying to solve problems cheaply and efficiently so I explore everything I possibly can to really maximize my recycling.

Currently means lugging around three turrets which have infinite ammo and triggering aliens to come at me lol.

So my ammo and spare health kits are overflowing and only really used for emergencies and huge battles but so far I am starting to get too much stuff.

Playing on hardest difficulty and nearly 10 hours in.

My other fav tactic is sneaking up to phantoms gooing the gak out of them running up to them and emptying a clip of pistol into them so they die in one go. Or I like to use the shotgun.

Saw a Twitch play of this game and gotta say it looks like one of the better games of the year. In the game every upgrade seems useful so far. I like the ability to make equipment out of parts. I like a lot of this game. It's like dead space 3 meets deus ex: human revolution meets prototype or bioshock. Basically you become a bad ***, there may be a conspiracy, the character has memory issues, you get more powerful the more upgrades and skill injects you get and the horror aspect as well. It just feels good. The space walk i was unsure about because the lack of gravity looked kinda frustrating but maybe it'll get better over time. Currently after about watching 2 and a half hours i'd say there are a lot of questions and not a lot of info yet.

I play star citizen so the space walk was so cool. I love space games. Considering It's right up my alley to camp ships in that game with a sniper in space and I have to be sneaky in all directions navigating it came easy to me. I can definitely see space not being for everyone. If you feel dizzy just from spinning around slightly then your going to have some problems. I find that if I start to feel dizzy I tell myself I'm standing straight but it's the universe that's spinning around me all crazy like. Kind of helps orientate my brain again.

I'm loving this game at the moment, only about 20 minutes deep into it, though.

Once I get a better handle on the mechanics of it, I think I'll restart on a harder difficulty.

Good idea. I'm on the hardest setting and it makes ammo conservation super important.

I finished the game last night, on normal difficulty. I really enjoyed the game. The ending was not entirely what I expected.
I don't know if my experience would be of any use on harder difficulties, but here's my biggest piece of advice: Don't neglect the wrench! When I had the skills affecting it fully upgraded (along with the sneak attack damage bonus and ability to slow down time), conking a phantom over the head with it would knock off up to 70% of their health. 30-40% on the stronger phantoms, and with the slow-time ability I would then just whale away on them while they were down. Other than that, I would also focus on upgrading the shotgun.

Anyway, midgame spoiler here, but the hopeless romantic in me had a sad moment:
Spoiler:
When I discovered Abigail's body. Here was two gamer geeks in love (Abigail and Danielle, and not just video games but D&D, too), and I was hoping they would survive.

By the way, I didn't use any Typhon neuromods at all, so I can't comment on how useful they might be. I had a feeling that using them might affect the ending (I was hoping for a happy ending despite what you're told to do early on), and I figured not using them might be a key element of that. The ending mentioned I didn't use them, but I don't know how much of an actual impact it made.

The twist ending was pretty good. I just saw most of a playthrough of it and really enjoyed it.
