Hey Nerds, What's up?

I just started playing Warhammer 40k and have chosen to play as the Orks.
I am eagerly awaiting the new 8th Edition release so I haven't bought a Codex yet,
but have looked through it several times at the games Workshop.

What I have bought so far:

Warboss Grukk's Boss Mob
Ork Trukk (and) Boyz
Stormboyz
Lootas
War Biker Mob
**and I am converting a tank into a Looted Wagon w/ Boom Gun!

I plan to buy:

(more) Lootas
(more) Warbikes
(another) Ork Trukk Boyz
Start Collecting Orks Boxset

Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful.
I am watching lots of videos online and reading lots of forums.
Even spent a hour chatting with the guys at the Games workshop!

Cheers,
Matthew

Welcome!

At this point, we're all still waiting on edge to see exactly how the new edition plays out, so you have a couple of options.

You can wait out the month and see how the new rules work. Or you can figure out which units you like the look of and purchase those.

As for personal advice, there's an old adage Ork players abide by, "Boyz over toys". That is to say, having more bodies is generally preferable to having more small, flashy elite units like tanks or Kommandos. So whatever you try to build, try to focus on having lots of it.

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

Welcome to da Waaagh...

As an Ork player, we're spoiled with some of the most versatile kits GW makes. In that regard, I would highly recommend picking yourself up a Battlewagon - with all the extra parts and boyz gunners you get, it's well worth it IMO. I used that one kit to make three different vehicles for my army, and most of a unit of tankbustas too! The turret is great for sticking on an Imperial tank for a looted wagon w/ boomgun, for starters...

As has been said, boyz before toys is the mantra! Get a core force of Orks in place, and you can't go wrong, whatever happens come the new edition...

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka
