I'm having difficulty choosing a beginner master for Malifaux. I'm set on picking either an Resurrectionist or Outcast faction master. Tara came into consideration; her AP control is astounding. For a beginner however, is she suitable, and will investment into the Herald of Obliteration be worth the cost, both in $$ and SS values?

Death is slouching towards me from ever corner and I cannot tell if it is here for me or here for thee.

Yes, if you choose to start out with Tara as your master, just expect to loose a bit more at first. But once you get the swing of things with her, enjoy and have fun. Now as she is a dual master she can do ressers and outcasts. Is there another master from either of those two factions that is to you liking?

Every master has their tricks and gimmicks. Losing is part of the game. Someone has to.

Know the basic rules, and know what's on the cards of the models you use. Tara's best friends are Guild Death Marshals, the Scion, and Hannah, with Aionus bringing up the rear.

Every Outcast model benefits from the AP she can hand out though. Even the lowly Desperate Mercenary can do something when you plink it for a wound and fast and it gets off six shots in a turn with positive flips (albeit at Sh 2). If nothing else it allows you to burn through your deck faster.

Tara has an interesting style of play where you can do a lot without having any really good cards in your hand. Just discard to complete an action. The positive flips for initiative are helpful too.

I'm both orderly and rational. I value control, information, and order. I love structure and hierarchy, and will actively use whatever power or knowledge I have to maintain it. At best, I am lawful and insightful; at worst, I am bureaucratic and tyrannical.

I find passive aggressive messages in people's signatures quite amusing.
