Hey all.

Given the prevalence of Biggs in the meta for rebels, I've kinda been taking another look at ruthlessness as an ept.

I was basically thinking, well, since I have to shoot Biggs anyway, why not spread some damage around while I'm doing it...

What do you think? Should this ignored ept be given another look?

It's 3 pts for something that deprives you of more interesting options.

Ordnance is another way of bypassing Biggs. One that can fit more than one way into the puzzle.

Yeah, shortly after posting I started wondering about assault missile... at least there you're never hitting yourself

The problem with ruthlessness is that there are a few situations where it's awesome, a few situations where it's ok but not spectacular (potential splash damage, but not using your EPT to buff your chances of hitting so it's a bit inconsistent against higher-agility targets), a lot of situations where it's a dead card because you don't have a target, and even some situations where you hurt yourself by bringing it. Situational cards like that are a bad idea when they cost 3 points (as much as the more consistently powerful options) and a powerful upgrade slot.

Not even assault missiles, any ordnance will work. Target lock the ship you want to kill, declare the missile/torpedo as your weapon, and since Biggs is not a legal target (no target lock on him) you get to shoot whoever you want.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

I think it is just a touch too expensive as a corner case EPT, whilst its handy against Biggs (and Ahsoka) it just doesn't seem that handy against everything else

Yeah, big problem is that it is competing against the gold standard of EPT's, Push the Limit, as well as the extremely good Predator.

A: A Maniraptor

It's quite nice for a TIE/D tractor beam vessery - his ability lets you get free target locks, so you don't lose out on firepower, but you (a) have two shots with it and (b) get a tractor shot to sling someone into range one of a preferred target before ruthlessness-ing them.

That's admittedly a sweet use but still prefer VI or PTL in that set up

Vi is a good point, but pred/ptl aren't really all that great for Vessery... That's one reason I've been thinking about things like ruthlessness and outmaneuver (for Vessery and Quickdraw)

Yep, PTL is a bit average on Defenders but never underestimate the power of the barrel roll
