Played 40k ages ago, while waiting for eighth took a look at AoS, seems cool. Want to start a Tzeentch army and starting out with a buddy, both looking for a 500 point game just to get us rolling on rules etc.

To the questions:

Looking at filling the mandatory 2 battleline with Tzaangors. Does 180 points get me 5 or 10 models (stat sheet says minimum 5 in squad, points page says 10).

Also, stats sheet says "models in this unit can be icon bearers", "models in the unit can have brayhorns". Can you have both the horn and the icon. Can each model have both? Is there any reason you wouldn't give them out to every model?

When I played 40k there were usually point costs associated with buffy wargear but as far as I can tell the horns and icons are free?

Thanks.

Welcome to AoS, so to answer your question:

You don't pay for upgrades, that includes increase to units or the special items they carry. So the cost of 10 Tzaangors with icons and horns costs about the same as a naked unit of 5. of course the game also enforces WYSIWYG.

Unless stated otherwise you can have multiple Icon bearers and Brayhorns in a unit, however they are allowed one special item per model, meaning you cant give a horn to a model that has a flag and vice versa (he needs one of his hands free to carry his weapon of course.)

Also it's worth noting that having two weapons does not give you an extra attack unless stated in the stat card so for a Tzaangor with two savage blades, he still makes 2 attacks but they're +1 to hit due to having a pair.

If you don't want to use the points system for a pitched battle, you can use a substitute points system, there's a few scattered around the net to help you out there.
