Greetings,

Could someone point me to a decent game of early jet Warfare and what you like about it?

I prefer plane games that have altitude rules, no altitude rules is a deal breaker for me. I also prefer not to use a hex map, but that can be overlooked.

Your thoughts?

"Check your 6! Jet Age" is what we use. http://www.skirmishcampaigns.com/cy6/ It handles all the math and lets the players focuses on maneuver and tactics. It covers Korea to the Falklans Island periods. There is a Korean campaign book available. http://www.skirmishcampaigns.com/cy6/korea.htm Check it out and post what you think. We ran an Vietnam era game at a game convention last year and all the players were new. They picked it up quickly and we had a good old furr-ball.

I used to enjoy Avalon Hill's 'Flight Leader' back in the day. Hex grid and counters, with a good look at things like speed, elevation, fuel, and detecting the enemy. The game modeled jet combat from the Korean War all the way up to the mid-80s (when it was published), and had stats for pretty much every one or two man jet produced in any numbers (up to about the F-111 in size).

IIRC "Bag the Hun" has a Korean era jet supplement in one of the magazines, written for the previous version but usable.

Altitude rules yes, does have a hex grid, with only a couple of planes you could probably work without it
