Hi people. So I wanted to know if it was possible to do a 1500 points list in AoS and if yes, does it count as a 1000 point pitched battle or a 2000 points ? I ask the question because I know it will affect how many minimum battleline units are required.

well going by the guidelines, since the army doesn't exceed the 2k mark, it will still count as a 1k army for the sake of army requirements.

Yeah. Not sure if GW overlooked 1500 as a common value or simply intended the 1k requirements to apply.

For some reason in my city the tournaments are currently played at 1500 points mark and they enforce the 2k requirements (3+ battlelines), explaining that it's like brackets.

Up to 1000 points: 2+ battlelines
1001-2000 points: 3+ battlelines
2001+ points: 4+ battlelines

That sounds fairly legit, seeing how any other way it'd be 2 battlelines anywhere between 500 and 2000, and this way it's neatly divided into three brackets.

In our FLGS it's like:

Up to 999: 1+ battleline
1000-1999: 2+ battleline
2000-2499: 3+ battleline
2500+: 4+ battleline


I guess at my FLGS people want to use the fancy units more. Unless you're stormcast and just spam judicators :-D
