Yaho,

Beavering away at the published mathhammer contentedly; thought occurs;

1. We have weapons that can inflict variable damage coming up, and multi-wound models are likely to be the norm, or at least vastly more common than before.
2. Instant death isn't a thing, at least as far as we've been tole' , so the time honored tradition of "shoot the big guns first" doesn't actually hold without thought
3. It's now very likely that a multi wound model (e.g. a terminator) can get over killed by multi wound causing weapons, wasting the damage potential.

In short, we're going to be shooting D weapons all day every day, without the benefit of the instant death rule or the giggles of the '6'.

So what's the best way to do it?

Using the published Leman Russ as a point of reference, it has (potentially) 3 different multi wound causing weapons in the form of the battle cannon, lascannon, and 2 melta guns. Alternatively it could take Battle Cannon, Lascannon and 2 heavy bolters; 2 multi wound causers, and 2 single wound causers.

Now assuming shooting resolution is still resolve each weapon of the same name in any order you please (which hasn't been contradicted yet), what is the best way to kill, say, terminators with the heavy bolter setup? Shoot multi wound, shoot single wound, then shoot multi wound again?

If so, is there suddenly serious benefit to mixing up weapons in a unit so you can 'tesselate' multi wound attacks with singletons?

Some people find the idea that other people can be happy offensive, and will prefer causing harm to self improvement.
