Now as my fanboyish name and picture suggests. I love my Salamanders and I am interested in reading their lore in the horus heresy series but the Horus heresy book series is a long and complicated thing. I pretty much just want to read the books about Salamanders, would this be possible or would it make 0 sense because I neglected reading any other book in the series?

It is not impossible to read about Sallies only but you still can loose some interesting parts from the whole series.Still if you care only about Vulkan's sons then these are the major ones to
read: Promethean Sun, Vulkan Lives, Deathfire, Sons of the Forge. Be warned because they are all by Nick Kyme who is one of the worst writers even for BL standards.
